History

A post office called Grandview has been in operation since 1889.[5] The city was named for the view obtained from the elevated town site.^[6]

Geography

Grandview is located at 38°53′6″N 94°31′21″W / 38.88500°N 94.52250°W / 38.88500; -94.52250 (38.885007, -94.522578),^[7] along U.S. Route 71, bordering Kansas City to the south.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.79 square miles (38.31 km²), of which 14.73 square miles (38.15 km²) is land and 0.06 square miles (0.16 km²) is water.^[8]

For every 100 females, the population had 91.6 males. For every 100 females ages 18 and older, there were 91.8 males.

Grandview C-4 School District operates six elementary schools, one middle school, Grandview Alternative School and Grandview Sr. High School.^[15]
