Aksum, crossed the Simien Mountains, and descended to the ruined palaces of Gondar and Lake Tana.[5][6]

Publication history

The book was first published in 1968. Like Murphy's other earlier works, it was published by Jock Murray of publishers John Murray.[4] She was close to Jock,[7] and she named the mule Jock after him. When Jock (the publisher) died, and his publishing house was sold, Murphy moved to another publisher, Eland Books,[7] who republished the book in 2011.[8]
