Neale was educated at
episcopate on 24 January 1974[6] by Michael Ramsey, Archbishop of Canterbury, at Westminster Abbey.[7] From October that year[8] until 1980, he also served as Archdeacon of Wilts in the same diocese.[9] From 1991 he was an assistant bishop in the Diocese of Bristol,[10] having moved into Corsham, Wiltshire as well as, simultaneously, in the Diocese of Gloucester from 1994. [11]
He died in July 2020, at the age of 93.[12] His papers are housed at the National Church Institutions Database of Manuscripts and Archives.[13]
