Release and reception

Kodi Parakkuthu was released on 8 November 1988.[5] N. Krishnaswamy of The Indian Express wrote, "Kodi Parakkudhu is a flag that flutters in full flow, its not a half-mast performance and there's no question of Bharathiraja having surrendered creativity at the altar of starry caprice".[6] Jayamanmadhan of Kalki, however, reviewed the film more positively, saying that while Bharathiraja fans may feel cheated due to the film not being in his usual style, it was a treat for Rajinikanth fans.[7] The film was commercially unsuccessful.[8]
