On 9 April 2021, People's Representative Council approved that this ministry is merged with the

Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, while National Research and Innovation Agency separated to a new non-ministerial government agency.[1]

On 13 April 2021, Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, spokesperson and expert professional of Deputy IV (Information and Political Communication)

Ministry of Research and Technology.[3]
