The Mount Sterling Micropolitan Statistical Area, as defined by the

2000 census, the μSA had a population of 40,195 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 44,046).[2]

The Mount Sterling Micropolitan Statistical Area is part of the Lexington-Fayette–Richmond–Frankfort, KY combined statistical area.
