- A U.S. major general Harold J. Greene is killed, and a German brigadier general and several American troops are among the 15 wounded, in an attack by an Afghan soldier gunman - who was killed by Afghan soldiers - at Kabul's Marshal Fahim National Defense University. - In basketball, the NBA's San Antonio Spurs announce that they have hired Becky Hammon as an assistant coach, effective with her retirement as a player at the end of the current WNBA season.
