Portugal-Sweden relations are foreign relations between Portugal and Sweden. Portugal has an embassy in Stockholm. Sweden has an embassy in Lisbon and 3 honorary consulates (in Faro, Ponta Delgada and Porto). Both countries are full members of the United Nations, European Union, NATO, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and Council of Europe. Portugal strongly supported Sweden's NATO membership during the latter's accession process.

History

Portugal joined 1986 and Sweden 1995 joined in the European Union. In May 2022, the Portuguese government announced that they would fully support Sweden's NATO membership.[1] In October of 2022, Portugal have fully ratified Sweden's NATO membership application.[2]

Portugal joined the EU in 1986. Sweden joined the EU in 1995.

NATO

While Portugal was one of the founding members of NATO, Sweden had only become a member of NATO in March 2024.
