History

A post office called Ridgely was established in 1848, and remained in operation until 1902.[4] The community most likely was so named on account of its lofty elevation.[5]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.44 square miles (3.73 km2), all land.[6]

The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.00.

The median age in the village was 38.8 years. 28.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 4.9% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25% were from 25 to 44; 34.6% were from 45 to 64; and 6.7% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 50.0% male and 50.0% female.
