The event featured wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portrayed villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in the scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.[3]

The Prisoner replaced Scott Norton in the Bounty Match with Sting. In the WCW/NWA World Tag Team Championship steel cage match, Tom Zenk replaced Shane Douglas as Ricky Steamboat
's partner in the masked Dos Hombres team. However, the announcers pretended throughout the match that Steamboat's partner was Douglas.
