{{AFC comment|1=None of these links are secondary sources about the conference. They're all catalogue entries for the book, or a digitized version of it. They wouldn't demonstrate notability for an article on the book itself, and certainly don't for an article on the conference. The Clifton Conference was held August 18 - 20, 1908 at William Newton Hartshorn's home in Clifton, Massachusetts with representatives from 34 schools for African Americans in seventeen states and nine missionary organizations in attendance. The conference addressed educational, religious, and social issues facing African Americans. The publication An Era of Promise and Progress was published in 1910 and documents schools and issues from the conference.[1] The publication includes profiles of African-American educators, ministers, and businessmen.[2] It memorializes Abraham Lincoln with images, documents, and quotes.

Attendees of the conference included James M. Cox, president of

Philander Smith College.[3]

A section of the book covers Joanna P. Moore. The State Library of North Carolina has posted the book online.[4]
