Karr suffered second degree burns in the explosion.<ref name=":0" /> Only one person is known to have been injured by his explosives. Karr had mental problems but was stated to be aware of what he was doing. Karr stated he was a "former homosexual".<ref name=":1" /> He pleaded guilty. A motive could not be determined other than a dislike of the towns the bombs were placed in.<ref name=":1" />
