Mohammad Hanif (death 28 November 2006) was a Bangladeshi politician who served as Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation from 1994 until 2002.[1]

Career

Hanif was an elected parliament member from Dhaka-12 constituency in 1973 and served as a whip of the National Parliament.[1] He also served as the president of Dhaka City Awami League.[2]

Hanif suffered splinter injuries during the

Bangladesh Awami League rally on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka.[3]

Death and legacy

Hanif was taken to Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok on February 10 2006 and returned on August 25 after a six-month treatment.[2] On 28 November 2006, He died at Apollo Hospital due to multiple organ failures.[1]

A flyover in Dhaka is named after him - Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover.[4]
