Lawrence J. VanDyke is an American lawyer and former Solicitor General of both Nevada and Montana. He is a nominee to be a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Attorney General Adam Laxalt in 2015, where he served until 2019. In 2019, VanDyke became a deputy Assistant Attorney General for the United States Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division, where he currently works.[3]

Nomination to court of appeals

On September 20, 2019, President Donald Trump announced his intent to nominate VanDyke to serve as a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.[3] Nevada Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto, both Democrats, announced their disappointment in the nomination.[4] On October 15, 2019, his nomination was sent to the Senate. President Trump nominated VanDyke to the seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit to be vacated by Judge Jay Bybee, who will take senior status on December 31, 2019.[5] His nomination is currently pending before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
