Subfamily

In
biological classification,[1] a subfamily (Latin: subfamilia, plural subfamiliae) is an auxiliary (intermediate) taxonomic rank, next below family but more inclusive than genus. Standard nomenclature rules end subfamily botanical names with "-oideae",[2] and zoological names with "-inae".[1]
