Syriac Catholic Archeparchy of Homs
The Syriac Catholic Archeparchy of Homs(-Hama-Nabk) is a nominally Metropolitan
Antiochian Rite in Syriac language) in Syria. It has no suffragans. Its seat is Holy Ghost Cathedral in Homs
, Syria.
It is headed by Archbishop Julian Yacoub Mourad (born Jacques Mourad).[1]
History
Established in 1678 as (nominally) Metropolitan Archdiocese of Homs (or
Emesa
)
It later gained the merged-in titles of the suppressed eparchies of
Nabk of the Syriacs.This latter merger occurred some time after the death of its eparch Mar Matthew Nakkar
in 1868.
