Can someone provide a list of programming languages compatible with the Compact Framework? I tried to find such a list with no success, and I think it would be useful. Cheers. —The preceding

Being a subset of the .NET Framework, it's C# and VB.NET. Notably not C++/CLI, the C++ counterpart in the .NET world. There are a few comments from Microsoft around the web about that detail, but the final word on it is that it there is no current plans to support that .NET language on the Compact Framework. -- Northgrove 16:26, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Delphi 2006 did have experimental support for CF 1.0 which is now superseeded by Delphi Prism which should have better, but still not complete, support for this target.--62.224.198.248 (talk) 21:13, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, .NET Compact 2.0 FrameWork apps run JUST FINE on WinXP Pro when I tried this. I just created my first HelloWorld app and it works fine on both...--

I've added a release dates column (similar to the one found at the .NET Framework page. I tried my best to find the release dates to as many releases as I could, but it seems that data is harder to come across than I thought. Most of the references came off the MSDN .NET Development team blog (which I will claim is a recognized authority in these matters). If anyone can find more of the release dates or the exact days of release, please post them. Thanks! There's room in this article for a brief mention of how to use the CF from other than a Windows Desktop OS, but it should be supported by a citation and presented in NPOV.
