Needs to be updated badly

Article reflects state of play circa 2000. Should be updated to include 'brew' and 'anaconda' and possible 'docker' at least as these are probably more preferred to apply os level installations of bioinformatics software for many people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dswan (talkcontribs) 12:28, 28 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What is meant by "Standard" Debian?

What is the standard to which Debian has been standardized? Alternatively, what about Debian is "standard"? The answer to these questions bears significantly on section 2.2 where reference is made to "non-standard" Debian. Since "Debian" proper is no longer compliant with the GPL I doubt anything about it is "standard". Kernel.package (talk) 23:49, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
