Plot

I am concerned TheOldJacobite reverted my entire edit to the Plot section, which included several important point which not only clarified the plot and corrected some errors, but importantly gave insight into the essential thought process of the key characters. There are several points so I won't go through each one, but you can see the changes by comparing versions. Please review and come back to me with your comment/ideas on how to resolve this conflict.Sedimentary (talk) 02:33, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing an edit by TheOldJacobite in the last 500 edits, so if you could point provide diffs between your version and his, that would be helpful. I have to say, though, that your saying your version of the plot "gave insight into the essential thought process of the key characters" has me concerned. The plot section should state only what the film itself shows onscreen and not contain speculation on the depicted persons' "thought processes." --Tenebrae (talk) 14:01, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews sections

I am removing the Reviews section and a dodgy URL to a seemingly unrelated non-English webpage. If somebody wishes to mention a particular review, I suggest they do so below the Reception headline - not in a standalone section.

Article lead

Let's keep the lead simple and objective, please. As it stands, the lead doesn't say the documentary is right or wrong, and it doesn't say SeaWorld is right or wrong. It just says what the topic is. An editor just added a paragraph lengthier than the entire rest of the lead, saying "SeaWorld and impartial scientists" say the film is wrong and horrible and terrible. Please — there are impartial scientists who feel the film is correct. The article body gives both the filmmakers' take and SeaWorld and others' rebuttals. It's balanced and neutral as is. Turning the lead into an

original-research synthesis to push one side or the other is unacceptable. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:10, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply
]

noun: documentary; plural noun: documentaries: a film or television or radio programme that provides a factual report on a particular subject.
A documentary, by its nature, is factual. Blackfish has been conclusively proven to not be factual, and is at best in "based on a true story" territory - I have a serious objection to referring to it as a documentary, and I suspect many others do as well. And, no, it hasn't been "conclusively proven to not be factual".--Tenebrae (talk) 23:51, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as they blatantly lie about calf separations, breeding, and captures, which is what a majority of this propaganda relies on, yes, it has been conclusively proven to be untrue. You hiding references debunking the films claims from third party sources does not change this. Feel free to call me out, if you actually can that is. Until then, I expect the factual accuracy of the film to be called directly into question either in the lead or in a separate partition within the article. The article covers both sides well, so I don't see any need to change it. Harryhenry1 (talk) 03:49, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

For the most part, this article has had proper citations to support what was being said. The hyperlinks that were included were great, giving us the chance to look more into depth if necessary. While reading the article, I wished to get more information on the public reaction to the film, other than them briefly mentioning the loss of money for Seaworld and the lower attendance. What actions of the public were triggered because of the release of the film? It does feel as though the article only focuses on the impact it had on the company and movie productions that were inaccurate in terms of the wildlife, but the article should mention the toll it had on whales at a more in depth level. The article also places emphasis on the negative side of keeping orcas in captivity, and repeatedly made Seaworld the villains. It is understandable as to why they are doing this to be a reflection of the film, but they still need to consider the viewpoints of the trainers a bit more deeply. Overall, this article summed up the film in a great way, just lacked a little more information. Ashleynoriega (talk) 06:25, 23 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
