Edit Request

There is some information on our page that is either outdated, or incorrect as our programs have changed. Below is a list of each edit request, along with why something should be changed, and sources. Please let me know if I need to provide anything additional.

Edit request

1.     We are a “faith based” organization. Can you add “Faith-Based” in the opening sentence — “Convoy of Hope is a faith-based nonprofit…” Source 1 Source 2


2.     We work with organizations well beyond just the Assemblies of God and Chi Alpha. Can you change “is associated with the Assemblies of God and its Chi Alpha campus ministries and fellowships” to “works with many different denominations, churches, organizations, and other non-profits.” Source 1 Source 2


3.     The statement “In 1995, Convoy of Hope held its first large food distribution event in which they gave 700,000 pounds of food to 70,000 people” is inaccurate. The way in which the article sourced for this information states these data points can be incorrectly read. The way it is written in the Wikipedia article makes it appear that Convoy gave 700,000 pounds of product to 70,000 people at a single event, when in reality that amount was given for the entire year of 1995. The sentence would be more accurate if it read, “In 1995, Convoy of Hope held its first large food distribution event. Over the course of the year, they gave 700,000 pounds of food to 70,000 people.” Source.


4.     This Wikipedia article lists our numbers going back to 2019, so almost 4 years old. Here are a few sentences that should be updated to reflect accurate numbers. Source (you can find these numbers if you scroll to the middle of our homepage).

a.     Change “As of 2019, the organization has provided a total of $1 billion in food and aid, helping over 115 million people in the process” to “As of 2023, the organization has provided a total of $2 billion in food and aid, helping over 200 million people in the process” Additional Source.

b.     The Wikipedia page lists our children’s feeding numbers from 2019 as 200,000 kids in 14 countries. Our numbers as of 2022 are over 500,000 kids in 33 countries. Source 1 Source 2 Source 3

c.     This is an addition, so only add if you feel like it’s beneficial to the article, but since 1994, we’ve also served over 700 million meals. Source


5.     Convoy is not a “first responder organization”, as mentioned in the Services section. A more accurate representation is “One of its primary functions is as one of the first organizations to respond in the wake of disasters.” The source used is still fine, just a wording change for better accuracy.


6.     We have removed the word “Compassion” from our “Rural Compassion Initiative” moniker, so please remove “Compassion” each time Rural Initiatives are mentioned in the Services section (also then make “Initiative” plural). Source


7.     Our children’s feeding program doesn’t provide “daily” meals to children. We partner with schools to provide meals to children “every school day”. The way we phrase that is “provides regular, nutritious meals to children.” The source used is still fine, but you can find our phrasing at these additional sources. Source 1 Source 2


8.     Since 2019, we’ve started an Agriculture Initiative that is not mentioned on the page. Information about this initiative can be found here and here. We’d like the initiative to be mentioned. If it’s easier, we’ve provided copy that can be reviewed, edited, and then used. Or feel free to draft something else.

a.     “Convoy of Hope’s Agriculture initiative provides agricultural training and resources to help people break the cycles of poverty and hopelessness. Convoy’s agriculture specialists teach production methods that encourage long-term sustainable practices, like techniques on food storage, processing, and preservation. Since 2011, Convoy of Hope has trained more than 80,000 individuals in agriculture in 17 countries around the world.”


9.     This is more of a grammar change, but in the sentence, “In 1996, Hal Donaldson was offered a job in Springfield, Missouri and moved Convoy of Hope's headquarters there as well” there should be a comma after Missouri.

 Not done: 1. What does "faith-based" mean here? What is a reader intended to understand from this? It's very unclear and ambiguous. If CoH were reported as being "faith-based" consistently by reliable secondary sources, that could be included in the lead with an explanatory footnote, but this doesn't seem to be the case.
2. The association with Assemblies of God is relevant; why should it go unmentioned here?

a. Since these numbers are sourced to an interview with CoH leadership, they should be attributed - "The organization claims to have provided...".
b. Ok.
c. Not reported in secondary sources, so both reliability and noteworthiness of this number are questionable; shouldn't be included.

6. The initiative should be named as it is reported in reliable sources. If its name has been changed, that can be included at an appropriate point in the paragraph, but it shouldn't be changed everywhere without explanation.
7. The phrasing chosen by CoH is not relevant here; Wikipedia editors should actually avoid copying text without attribution (

, not the desires or preferences of article subjects. Any addition should be based exclusively on reliable sources. The promotional tone and intent of your suggested addition is also not appropriate for Wikipedia.
9. I'm not a grammar expert, so I might be wrong, but I don't think a comma is needed there (?). This example sentence, with a location name that doesn't include a comma, reads perfectly fine to me:
"In 1996, Hal Donaldson was offered a job in Canada and moved CoH's HQ there as well."
On the other hand, it looks weird with a comma:
"In 1996, Hal Donaldson was offered a job in Canada, and moved CoH's HQ there as well."
I don't think "...and moved CoH's HQ there as well" should be separated from the rest of a sentence with a comma, if it can be at all.
Remember that you are allowed to make minor edits to spelling and punctuation as long as they do not change the meaning of the content you edited. If you think a comma belongs there,
