Under the censorship category add this excerpt?

Discord has been dedicated to removing extremist communities and other violent content since its conception. x, discord continues to serve its statement "We continue to believe there is no place on Discord for groups organizing around hate, violence, or extremist ideologies."

cited from https://www.npr.org/2021/04/05/983855753/group-chat-app-discord-says-it-banned-more-than-2-000-extremist-communities AlanL19 (talk) 01:15, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Note I have retitled the section heading to "bans" as the text was not about censorship. Ca talk to me! 15:11, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure if this is due for inclusion. And nowhere within the article it says "censorship" or any variation thereof. The figure comes from a specific 6 month range that is very unlikely to be useful for people conducting research. "Discord has been dedicated" does not seem very neutral to me. isn't discord stickers free now?

if i'm not wrong, all discord stickers (except for what's up wumpus and nitro wumpus) are free to use now. (according to one of discord own changelogs: https://discord.com/blog/discord-update-may-22-2023-changelog) albeit more stickers are actually free to use than what discord mentioned in the changelog. Pwnz0rServer2009 (talk) 08:31, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This is correct. Stickers are free for all users now. Ternera (talk) 23:17, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Recommending erratum.

On December 5, 2023, Discord launched a major update of its mobile app, putting messaging front-and-center while making a host of minor improvements.

I would propose the erratum of "a host of minor changes."

The update was poorly received by a large swathe of the community and regressions in function to the UI have been documented. The erratum is neutral language, and does not endorse or disavow changes within the update. 216.184.2.22 (talk) 01:19, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done, also removed the strange wording of "putting messaging front-and-center", which felt like a straight copy from a press release. ASpacemanFalls (talk) 09:15, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, everyone! We’re a few new Wikipedia contributors (Myself, Cirri006 and SomebodyCares2).

We would like to expand some of the less detailed sections of Discord's Wikipedia entry. For example, we'd like to make the timeline of the elimination of discriminators more detailed, encapsulating the staggered removal of these discriminators. In addition, the section about the servers lists them as a “collection of channels” which is not a very detailed description of what they are. Many aspects of that article could be reworded and improved to better emphasize the features that a server provides. Some of the information in the article could be updated as well, such as the statistic on web traffic. Erics163 (talk) 19:42, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Servers

Discord communities are organized into discrete collections of channels called servers. Although they are referred to as servers on the front end, they are called "guilds" in the developer documentation.[1] Users can create servers for free, manage their public visibility, and create voice channels, text channels, and categories to sort the channels into.[2] Most servers have a limit of 250,000 members, but this limit can be raised if the server owner contacts Discord.[3] The previously largest known Discord server was Snowsgiving 2021, an official Discord-controlled server made for the 2021 winter holiday season. This server reached 1 million members.[4] In 2023, the server for Midjourney reached over 15 million members, making it the largest server on Discord.[5]

Discord communities are organized into discrete collections of channels called servers. Although they are referred to as servers on the front end, they are called "guilds" in the developer documentation, to distinguish themselves from actual servers.[6] Users can create servers for free, manage their public visibility, and create voice channels, text channels, and categories to sort the channels into.[2] Most servers have a limit of 250,000 members, but this limit can be raised if the server owner contacts Discord.[7] Users can also create roles and assign them to server members. Roles can, among other things, determine which channels users have access to, change users’ colors, and designate a server’s moderation team. The previously largest known Discord server was Snowsgiving 2021, an official Discord-controlled server made for the 2021 winter holiday season. Hello! Thank you for letting me know :) I am new to Wikipedia and didn't know that primary sources were not considered reliable. https://www.ign.com/articles/discord-will-soon-be-requiring-users-to-pick-a-new-username is one source I found which should be reputable, and links back to the primary source in which I had originally posted.
