Schedule of General Hospital

The article wrongfully says that General Hospital has two network timeslots: 2:00pm (ET) and 3:00 pm (ET). According to the ABC schedule grid on the link below, the sole network timeslot for GH is 2:00pm (ET) and there is no mention at all of the 3:00pm (ET) timeslot

ABC daytime schedule

While some local stations have moved the show back to 3:00pm (ET) last September, this timeslot is no longer the network's schedule for the show and hasn't been since September 2012.

The reality is that pretty much all daytime shows (eg:The Chew, The Talk, Y&R, B&B, etc) have some markets where they air at different slots than their official network ones. The soap opera press has made a huge fanfare about a few ABC stations that have decided to move GH back to 3:00pm after Katie was canceled and this has probably mislead some people to think that 3:00 (ET) is once again a network timeslot for GH. It isn't. Some stations simply chose to air GH at 3:00pm(ET) instead of 2:00pm (ET) just like some CBS stations choose to air The Talk at 3:00pm(ET) instead of 2:00pm (ET)

The only daytime show that actually has two network feeds is "Let's Make a Deal". In fact, LMAD is counted twice in the Nielsen ratings because of this. This is not the case with GH which, like all of the other daytime shows except LMAD, only has one network feed and is only counted once in the Nielsen ratings. Basically, ABC provides the network feed for GH at 2:00 (ET) and some stations choose to rebroadcast it at a later time (such as 3:00pm (ET) for example).

User:Kiraroshi1976 insists that 3:00 pm (ET) is network timeslot for GH. But not one of the sources he/she provided supports his/her position. Sources #25 is now expired and discusses about unreleated topics. Source #26 is from a fan site which that in itself makes it unreliable. But even there, source #26 only mentions that the show has moved to 3:00 pm (ET) in some markets, not that it is actually the show's network timeslot. Source #27 is a valid source. But like source #26, source #27 only mentions that the show has moved back to 3:00 pm (ET), not that this timeslot is a schedule as a whole.

So as you can, not one of Kiraroshi1976's three sources supports his/her position whereas the ABC's official website supports the fact that 2:00 pm (ET) is the sole network timeslot for GH. Since the schedule grid should only take into consideration network timeslots (and not individual local timeslots), I strongly believe that the schedule grid should solely mention 2:00 (ET) as the schedule since September 12, 2012 BUT with a small note below that some local stations have chose to move the show back at 3:00 (ET) in September 2014. Basically how the section was prior to Kiraroshi1976's edit at 06:51, 2 April 2015 is how it should be. [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.22.176.13 (talk)

I have provided sources for this. General Hospital Changing Time Slots., MONDAY: General Hospital Is On The Move With Its Timeslot Change In 8 Major Markets!, and ‘General Hospital’ Time Slot Switch: The Affected Stations Fall Afternoon Lineups are the sources. I always provide sources. The one source was changed so I have to find other sources. Yes, the ABC site states 2 PM. I have stated the sources for the time slot change for several markets. This page is supposed to be accurate. By providing those sources and the time slot for those cities maintains the accuracy of the page. Please refrain from threatening me to talk on my talkpage. Thank you. --Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 15:09, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
ABC's official time slot for General Hospital is in fact at the two o'clock time slot during their daytime programming schedules for the majority of its television markets (still airs at two o'clock here). However, as pointed out by Kiraroshi1976, eight different markets decided to put the series back to its three o'clock time slot following the cancellation of Katie, due to ratings being better received in that time slot. Soap Opera Digest also confirmed this decision and even confirmed which markets would revert back to the three o'clock airtime. The "Schedule" section should likely be re-formatted to better suit a clearer representation of air times and markets per the Television WikiProject. livelikemusic my talk page! 16:17, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
I re-edited the information to better affect ABC's true intentions with the time slot, while noting the change in the eight markets mentioned, to [hopefully] appease both sides of the argument. livelikemusic my talk page! 16:38, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
You took the words out of my mouth Livelikemusic and couldn't have said it better. I never was opposed to a small note below the grid indicating the change of timeslot in some markets in 2014. After all, if the soap opera press (and a few local news) made a huge fanfare about it, it probably is notable enough to be part of Wikipedia. I was simply opposed that this 3:00pm schedule appears on the grid itself because it is a local timeslot, not a timework network like 2:00pm. GH's situation is not the same as CBS's Let's Make a Deal. LMAD has two networks feeds, GH does not. Anyway, thanks for looking into this and take care. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.22.176.13 (talk) 03:51, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
I was never opposed to the way it looks now. I was opposed to not mentioning the facts of those cities with the timeslot change for them for it to be accurate. --Kiraroshi1976 (talk) 06:10, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

Removed Sentence

I removed this sentence, "Same-day broadcasts as well as classic episodes were aired on

SOAPnet from January 20, 2000, to December 31, 2013, following Disney-ABC's decision to discontinue the network." What does this mean? General Hospital is now and always has been broadcast by ABC. This sentence makes is sound as though GH was discontinued at the end of 2013. What is a "same-day broadcast"? Normally I would not do this, on the assumption that those "skilled in the art" would understand. But this is about a TV Soap Opera, and should be understandable if corrected written. If this sentence is critical to the introduction, then please rewrite it and put it back. Nick Beeson (talk

It is worth mentioning, again, the Hursleys, per the credits of each episode, are credited as Frank and Doris Hursley. I could understand if they were credited as Frank Hursley and Doris Hursley, however, they are not; they are, in fact, credited as their own collectively-working entity, hence why their page is also both of them combined. And this is much like the two examples also provided above. livelikemusic (TALK!) 00:48, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

This is still an issue that needs to be settled. As well... "often abbreviated as" is appropriate for the opening lead, as omitting it implies it is commonly referred to in media as GH, which it is not. Using the comparison of American Broadcasting Company is that the company is purely known as ABC for marketing and media, and not referred to by its full name. livelikemusic (TALK!) 22:58, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Picture format

I want the picture format info to say this:

It's formatted this way in articles such as "South Park", "Friends", "30 Rock", "Bob's Burgers", "Futurama", and "Disenchantment (TV series)", among other articles.

ÐW(T·C) 03:20, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

Per {{Infobox television}} it states this is informal; other pages have not yet adapted to these changes. The template is what we need to follow and update other pages to follow. Just because other pages do so does not mean it is right. Per the template, it states: The video or film format in which the show is or was originally recorded or broadcast (Black and white, Film, 405-line, NTSC, PAL, SECAM, HDTV 720p, HDTV 1080i). Do not use "SDTV" as it is ambiguous. Note that aspect ratios (4:3, 16:9 etc) are not a format and should not be included. livelikemusic (TALK!) 03:51, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
  1. I never listed any aspect ratios.
  2. I never used "SDTV" because I'm fully aware of that fact that it's ambiguous.
  3. In a sense, it still says "HDTV 720p"; it's just written differently.
ÐW(T·C) 16:49, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
Again, the set up which you prefer is not how the template calls for it to be listed. What you want is not what the template calls for. 480i was removed from NTSC, because NTSC is standardly 480i, and mentioning such is redundant to the format, hence why it was removed from the template requirement some time ago, and does not need to be listed. livelikemusic (TALK!) 12:35, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

This edit request is for an addition to the "Parodies and references in other media" section of the wiki page. I found a reference in the Nextflix series "Archive 81" Season 1 Episode 1 at time stamp 20:04. (On Netflix I believe this timestamp indicates time remaining in the episode. Nonetheless, this is the number you'd pause at to catch the reference.) When you pause at this time stamp, a journal is opened to the handwritten plot of Thursday December 26 and Friday December 27 of General Hosptial. If you press play, this is continued for a few seconds as some pages are turned. I confirmed this by matching the writing in the journal to the text written at this site below

https://www.soapcentral.com/general-hospital/recaps/1996/961223.php

I am not sure if General Hosptial is referenced any further in this Netflix series as I am only on Episode 1, but for some reason it is shown at the time I indicated. 67.150.28.250 (talk) 04:18, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
