Should the picture be changed?

I don't think the dodo bird is an adequate representation of the subject. This is an ongoing extinction event, which some say has gotten significantly more severe in the 20th century. I propose we add a catalog of related image showing deforestation, fisheries, cities, pollution, etc.I don't think the dodo bird is an adequate representation of the subject. The dodo is an icon of modern human-caused extinctions. Given that humans are likely responsible for hundreds, possibly thousands of bird extinctions on islands across the Holocene [1] don't see why it needs to be changed. Hemiauchenia (talk) 21:29, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The dodo is insignificant ecologically, it's an endemic island bird. I would argue that human the deforestation of the amazon rainforest is much more relevant and worth representing. Alexander Shipfield (talk) 21:42, 5 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How is the extinction of hundreds, possibly thousands of bird species across the Holocene "insignificant ecologically"? The dodo was likely an ecologically important seed disperser. The fact they are island endemic is irrelevant. Humans have been having a significant effect on the planet's biodiversity long before 1950.
