Westfield Content Change Request

Hello. My name is Erik Even, and I am a Web Producer for Westfield Corporation. We're concerned that many of the Wikipedia pages for Westfield centers have incorrect or outdated information, and even content that is not NPOV.

I have read the rules for Conflict of Interest, and I will not be attempting to make any page edits. I will simply be going into talk pages, and suggesting edits, which the community may then either act on or not. I genuinely appreciate any help you can give.

Our suggested text is below, which is meant to be the first paragraph.

Again, thank you for your help.

Suggested text:

Westfield Horton Plaza is a five-level, 758,000 square-foot outdoor

United Artists
cinema.

Architecturally, it is known for its

Horton Plaza
park.

– The mall did not have "mall" in the name and was always just "Horton Plaza".

Partial title match and the mall is the only thing with the exact name Horton Plaza. Hatnotes should be sufficient here. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 20:06, 11 March 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. — Shibbolethink ( ) 13:51, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply

  • Oppose I'd even argue that Horton Plaza should redirect to Horton Plaza Park (see here, for example), but the current setup works. Horton Plaza (shopping center) is probably not a better title. 162 etc. (talk) 22:32, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose This article describes the mall, in the past tense since it has been torn down. But it existed, it was a mall, and its history is significant. "mall" needs to remain in the title since there are two articles about Horton Plaza. Horton Plaza, the suggested new title, is actually a disambiguation page listing both articles. Someday soon there will be three articles, when "The Campus at Horton" is completed. -- MelanieN (talk) 02:09, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not called "Horton Plaza Mall" though. That's like saying Mall of America is called "Mall of America Mall". Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 04:45, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the mall isn't called Horton Plaza Mall - and wasn't called that when it existed (1985–2020); from 1998 till 2020 it was officially known as
Horton Plaza (mall), but I prefer the current title. You are right that the shopping center never had "mall" as part of its official name - but it also never comprised the whole of Horton Plaza, a historic area and concept going back more than 100 years. During that time the area has undergone several major changes in usage, reflected in several articles here, while always keeping some form of the name "Horton Plaza". The adjacent park area, also part of the original Horton Plaza, actually is called Horton Plaza Park, but only since 2011. A third usage, The Campus at Horton, is currently under construction where the mall used to stand. -- MelanieN (talk) 15:06, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply

The park is not called "Horton Plaza" though. It's a
WP:PTM. That's like saying that Nelly should be at Nelly the Musician simply because Nelly Furtado exists. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 17:25, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply

While "Horton Plaza Park" may be the official name used since 2016, Horton Plaza has been known as such since 1895[1], so I'm not buying the PTM argument. 162 etc. (talk) 16:42, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. BTW the century-long history of Horton Plaza is detailed in the article Horton Plaza Park, so if anything is to be known as simply Horton Plaza it should be that article, not the modern mall. -- MelanieN (talk) 00:03, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support
Horton Plaza (mall). The current title violates NATURAL because it was never called this, so it must be renamed. Per the arguments above it can’t go to the proposed title. Therefore this counter-proposal. I also oppose moving to Westfield Horton Plaza per OFFICIAL. It was rarely actually called that. —В²C 18:06, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply
