"Coronavirus Controversy" section

Removed material previously sourced from Twitter, and replaced with reputable sources of local and regional news. Concerned that so far, this page has been used as a puff page for the company, and doesn't present a balanced view on the subject, evidenced by their director of eMarketing, going on to remove unfavourable edits. 81.187.190.111 (talk) 20:23, 21 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Proposing new draft for Company History

Hi, I'm TerryBG and I'm working on behalf of Parkdean Resorts to improve this article, increase its accuracy, and get it more in line with a C or B level Wikipedia article. My COI is disclosed here and here on my userpage.

I would like to propose a new draft for the Company History section of the article, and also for the article's lead.

I have provided a draft for the proposed changes at:

User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts.

Since the company Parkdean Resorts is the result of the November 2015 merger of Parkdean Holidays and Park Resorts, I have taken the texts of Parkdean Holidays, Park Resorts, and Parkdean Resorts, cited everything, and organized the drafts into a merged draft. (I did not alter the "Coronavirus response" section at all.)

In creating the merged draft, I have:

  • Carefully fact-checked and cited everything from reliable sources
  • Corrected or removed any inaccuracies, per reliable citations
  • Removed anything completely unverifiable
  • Put things in accurate chronological order
  • Copyedited for sense, conciseness, accuracy, and neutrality
  • Removed promotional-sounding language or text
  • Removed some prices where either unverifiable or not particularly relevant
  • Added some crucial details if missing

I also cleaned up, corrected, and cited the infobox.

If someone could check my draft (User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts), and if doable, instate it, I would be very grateful. If you have any questions or suggestions, please ping me here or leave a message on my talkpage. TerryBG (talk) 11:47, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The request does not state reasons for each individual change.[1] A list of reasons have been given (e.g., "In creating the merged draft, I have..."), but those reasons are not specifically applied to the proposed text. Please reformulate your request, making sure that each change has an appropriate reason given.  Spintendo  15:03, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request part 2

Hi Spintendo; thanks for your response and instructions above. Per your above request, I have listed below the changes I have made (in my proposed draft, User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts) to the three source articles (Parkdean Holidays, Park Resorts, and Parkdean Resorts) in compiling my draft, and the reasons for each. If you or someone else could check them, and if doable, replace the existing text of this current article with my draft (User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts), I would appreciate it. My COI is disclosed here and here on my userpage. If there are any further issues, concerns, or suggestions, please let me know. Thanks again, and thank you very much for your time. TerryBG (talk) 04:25, 3 November 2020 (UTC); edited 19:44, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I see Spintendo has stopped editing, and apparently simply popped in for a day three weeks ago following a six-month break. Since he has not responded to my reply/ping to him, Ymblanter do you think you could check/implement my edit request? (I see you made a helpful edit to this article earlier this year.) If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, by all means let me know! Please also see the original edit request in the thread above titled "Proposing new draft for Company History". Thanks very much for your time. TerryBG (talk) 14:58, 18 November 2020 (UTC); edited 19:44, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, I physically do not have time for this kind of work right now.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:18, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Detailed explanation of changes from the three source articles
Changes to infobox

Original: Parkdean Resorts
New: User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts

  • Fixed formatting of the "Predecessor" section by inserting a <br> code.
  • Removed all of the "Key people" except the CEO, since none of them were either cited, mentioned in the article, or notable.
  • Added a citation for Steve Richards being the CEO.
  • Deleted "Parent: PD Park Holdings Limited group" as uncited and unverifiable.
Intro/Lead

Original: Parkdean Resorts
New: User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts

  • Paras 1 and 2:
    • Combined these two paragraphs to make a satisfactorily informative lead paragraph, and because Para 1 was too short at two sentences.
    • Rearranged the order of sentences for sense and flow.
    • Updated "2018" to "2020".
  • Para 3:
    • Added "Prior to the November 2015 merger" for clarification regarding this old data.
    • Added "founded in November 1999" to clarify inception of Parkdean Holidays.
    • Added "founded in May 2001" to clarify inception of Park Resorts.
    • Corrected number of Park Resorts' holiday parks from 48 to 49, based upon reliable source.
    • Added "the Lake District" regarding Park Resorts' locations, per citation.
    • Moved "In July 2016 the business acquired Vauxhall Holiday Park based in Great Yarmouth which caters to 80,000 holidaymakers a year" to the section "Merger into Parkdean Resorts", as that section covers all events from November 2015 forward.
    • Added "There was little geographical overlap between the two companies, with Parkdean Holidays concentrating in South West England and Scotland, while Park Resorts concentrated on England's East Coast and North West", because during my fact-checking I found this mentioned in a number of independent sources, and it seemed pertinent and valuable information for the reader.
  • Para 4:
    • Updated the tense of the first clause to the present.
    • Clarified that John Waterworth had not led Parkdean Resorts for 20 years, but rather that he had led Parkdean Holidays and then Parkdean Resorts for nearly 20 years, per citation.
Changes to Parkdean Holidays section

New: User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts#Parkdean Holidays

Extended content
Intro/Overview
  • Para 1:
    • Added date of founding.
    • Changed "East Anglia" to "Norfolk", per official source (September 2015 archived webpage [1]).
    • Added "it also had caravan and camping pitches at many locations", to match official source (September 2015 archived webpage [2]).
  • Paras 2 and 3:
    • Moved this information to the section called "Merger into Parkdean Resorts".
History
  • Para 1:
    • Deleted price of buyout as unverifiable from the currently available sources I was able to find. (In this new draft I have generally deleted prices except where they refer to significant debt or debt restructuring/pay-down.)
    • Added the city location of the original holiday park, per the citations found, since locations are specified for the other park locations throughout this article.
  • Para 2:
    • Deleted price of acquisition of the three parks in July 2000 -- unverifiable online at this point in time (20 years after the fact).
  • Para 3:
    • Deleted price of acquisition of the three parks in March 2001 -- unverifiable at this point in time.
    • Deleted "Gosforth" (the specific neighborhood in Newcastle) as unable to substantiate from Google searches at this point in time.
  • Para 4:
    • Deleted "which is home to the GoldCoast Oceanfest surfing festival.[1]" as promotional and not independently cited.
    • Added a paragraph break so that the London Stock Exchange flotation (May 2002) is in a separate paragraph, since it is unrelated to the previous information and has unique significance.
  • Para 5:
    • Deleted price of the acquisition of the two parks in May 2003 -- unverifiable online at this point in time (17 years after the fact).
  • Para 6:
    • Deleted prices of the acquisitions of the six parks in March 2004 and October 2004 -- unverifiable online at this point in time.
    • Adding the company (Bourne Leisure) the five parks acquired in October 2004 were purchased from, per the verifying citation.
    • Added the locations of the five parks acquired in October 2004, per citation, for specificity and to conform to the rest of the article.
  • New Para: Inserted mention of acquisition of the company by Alchemy Partners in March 2006. This is crucial information that was in the infobox but not in the body text, and is referred to in this currently live Wikipedia article (Parkdean Resorts), and is referred to in the "Merger" section of the new draft.
  • Para 7: Deleted price of acquisition of the four holiday parks acquired in July 2007, to match the rest of the article.
  • Para 8: Moved this information on the merger to section called "Merger into Parkdean Resorts".
Entertainment
  • Paras 1 and 3: These paragraphs overlapped and repeated each other, so I combined and shortened them, as verifiable via independent citations. I also moved the post-merger information to the section called "Merger into Parkdean Resorts".
  • Para 2: Moved the post-merger information to the section called "Merger into Parkdean Resorts".
Holiday Parks
  • Removed this section entirely, since the long bulleted list has been deleted from this current live article on the new merged company (Parkdean Resorts), and the body text of the History subsection of this Parkdean Holidays section already mentions the sites.
Changes to Park Resorts section

Original: Park Resorts
New: User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts#Park Resorts

Extended content
Intro/Overview
  • Para 1:
    • Added year founded (2001).
    • Corrected number of parks at the time of November 2015 merger (49, not 48), per reliable citation.
  • Para 2:
    • Added "or lakeside", since not all waterside parks were on the sea, per reliable citation, for completeness and accuracy.
  • Para 4:
    • Moved this information to the section called "Merger into Parkdean Resorts".
History
  • Para 1:
    • Changed "created in March 2001 .... The deal was finalised in May 2001" to "created in May 2001" for succinctness.
    • Deleted the price of the management buyout -- not in citation provided, and not sufficiently relevant; to match the rest of the article (Parkdean Holidays above) I'm omitting prices except regarding major debt issues.
    • Added "This created the UK's second largest caravan park group", because that is what reporting at the time stated, and this seems significant, since the relative size of Parkdean Holidays was already mentioned in that article and section.
    • Added "Vaughan, former managing director of
      Rank Leisure
and Rank Entertainment, became the company's CEO" (per reliable citations reporting at the time), since Vaughan being CEO was referred to later in the article without previous explanation, and because his background and experience seem relevant, especially in view of the management conflicts later on.
    • Added "The company subsequently acquired three parks on the Isle of Wight, two in Yorkshire, and one at Bideford Bay, Devon", as this came to light when fact-checking and citing Para 2.
  • Para 2:
    • Changed:

"In December 2004 Park Resorts was sold to [Haven Holidays] Capital for £165 million, and its activities were merged with the GB Holiday Parks business (itself bought by ABN AMRO for £105 million just one month previously) to form the second-largest caravan park operator in the UK. The name 'Park Resorts' was retained as the company name and brand title."

      to:

"In late December 2004, Park Resorts was sold by its private-equity holder CBPE to ABN Amro Private Equity, and merged with GB Holiday Parks. Retaining the Park Resorts name and CEO, the resulting company had 35 holiday parks and became the UK's second largest caravan park group after Bourne Leisure."

for accuracy and brevity (including removing the price tag per previous style) and specificity (number of parks; same CEO) per findable and viewable reliable citations.

  • Para 3:
    • Changed "In March 2007, the business was acquired in a highly leveraged buy-out backed by GI Partners for £440 million" to "In March 2007, ABN Amro sold the company to GI Partners for £440 million in a highly leveraged buyout" for greater clarity and accuracy per findable and viewable reliable citations.
    • Retained the price this time since the deal was highly leveraged (i.e., based on debt), and the debt accrued became a major problem later on.
    • Moved the events of 2008 to a new paragraph to avoid clutter and retain style.
  • New Para:
    • This paragraph comprises the events of April 2008 (split from para 3), December 2008 (split from para 3), and September 2009 (unfair-dismissal case against the management changes of December 2008; moved from para 5). This keeps the inter-related financial and management difficulties together.
    • The only substantive changes to the above were:
      • Deleted "By 2009, the financial position had improved.[2]" because it did not have a clickable citation and I was unable to substantiate via a Google search, and it seems like an unnecessary, vague, non-specific claim/opinion.
      • Added "but the tribunal rejected the men's allegation that GI Partners had lied to Park Resorts' lenders", as this was an important part of the case result and seems important to mention (especially since the men were awarded only a small amount, circa £15,000 each, in the tribunal result).
  • Para 4 (Andy Edge, Undercover Boss):
    • Removed all unsourced, promotional, and unverifiable claims ("went and bought Breydon Water, Great Yarmouth and Lower Hyde, Isle of Wight"; "In an interview after the show Mr Edge told how the show has generated a very positive response from both customers and staff"). I left only what I was actually able to verify and cite via a Google search.
  • Para 6 (debt restructuring):
    • I moved this to the same paragraph as the above information on Undercover Boss, which had become so small (one short sentence), since both paragraphs are about 2009.
    • Changed "to allow a five-year investment programme to proceed" to "to fund a programme investing in the company's parks over the next five years", per reliable citations, to reduce vagueness.
    • Added "and the banks took a 5% stake in the company", since I found this while fact-checking and it seems significant.
  • Para 7:
    • Corrected date (2010, not 2020) and total number of parks (39, not 89), per available reliable sources.
    • Available reliable sources did not mention "Bryanston Kenmore" as the name of the sites at Southview, Skegness, so I removed that.
  • Para 8 (begins with "The director's report for the year ended 31 March 2011"):
    • This was cited to an unclickable citation ("Park Resorts Ltd, Directors' Report and Financial Statements, 31 March 2011") which I could not find via Google. I could not verify any of the claims in this two-sentence paragraph via online research, so I deleted the paragraph. Since it was not cited to an independent reliable source, but rather to an uncheckable director's report and financial statement, it seemed like possible original research of no intrinsic value or relevance.
  • Para 9 (2011):
    • Sunday Times Top Track 250: This paragraph listed rankings for 2011 and 2010; it seemed random to list two years of rankings, neither of which was particularly remarkable, so I added the rankings for 2009, 2007, and 2006 (apparently it didn't make the cut in 2008).
    • Sunday Times Buyout Track 100: This paragraph listed the ranking for 2012; to conform to the previous sentence I added rankings from 2008 and 2007 (apparently it didn't make the cut in the intervening years).
    • I also added a paragraph break to make the Sunday Times Buyout Track 100 information a separate paragraph, since it was about 2012 not 2011.
    • Deleted footnote "profits used by Fast Track for this ranking are based on the parent, Dome Holdings Ltd" as uncited and unverifiable, and not evident from the source citation.
  • Para 10 (new stakeholder and CEO; debt refinancing):
    • Reorganized the sentences for sense and flow; no substantive change.
  • Para 11 (September 2013)
    • No substantive change.
  • Para 12 (2014):
    • Changed "July 2014" to "August 2014" per reliable sources.
    • Added mention of Eastern Parks, which was the company actually acquired in 2014, and Bluebird Partners, previous owner of Eastern Parks, per reliable sources reporting on the matter.
    • Added the locations of the two parks acquired, to match the rest of the article.
    • Changed "May 2015" to "November 2014", and added background of Alan Parker (new chairman), per reliable citations.
    • Moved information on 2015 to a separate paragraph.
    • Regarding the 2015 acquisition, added "bringing its total number of parks to 49", per reliable source reporting on the matter, since this was the company's last acquisition, and its total number of parks, prior to merger with Parkdean Holidays.
  • Para 13:
    • Moved this information to the section called "Merger into Parkdean Resorts".
  • Para 14:
    • Deleted the list of "sites in operation in 2011", since the long bulleted list has been deleted from this current live article on the new merged company (Parkdean Resorts), and the body text of this section already mentions the sites.
Mascots
  • Deleted "The characters were seen in a live production at Park Resorts sites called 'Live With The Krew'", as I could find no substantiation of that in online reliable sources.
  • Added mention of "Sparky's Krew", per reliable online sources, since it relates to the entertainment rename which was done after the 2015 merger.
  • Moved all of the information about the post-merger changes to the section called "Merger into Parkdean Resorts".
"Merger into Parkdean Resorts" section

Originals: Text is from all three source articles -- Parkdean Holidays, Park Resorts, and Parkdean Resorts.
New: User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts#Merger into Parkdean Resorts

  • Para 1:
  • Para 2 is from Parkdean Holidays, Para 3 of intro.
    • Added "Park Resorts" because it was a joint award per the citation.
  • Para 3 is from Parkdean Resorts, Para 3 of intro.
  • Para 4 is from Parkdean Holidays, Para 2 of Entertainment section.
  • Para 5 is from Parkdean Resorts, the section titled "Ownership changes".
    • Added the former name of Epiris (Electra Partners), because Electra Partners has already been mentioned four times in this article and it changed its name prior to the sale of Parkdean Resorts.
    • Corrected completion date (March, not August), per citation.
    • Corrected equity investment amount, date, and who made it, per citation.
  • Para 6 is from Parkdean Resorts, "Awards" section.
"Awards" and "Coronavirus response" sections

Original: Parkdean Resorts
New: User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts

  • The "Awards" section information was moved to the "Merger into Parkdean Resorts" section above (last sentence).
  • The "Coronavirus response" section was unchanged and left as is.

Pinging Ukexpat, Dormskirk, and Chetsford: I see you have all helped declared-COI editors with requested edits at times in the past. I'm wondering if any of you, or anyone else visiting this page, have time to implement my requested edit above. It's a simple complete copy&replace (from this draft: User:TerryBG/Parkdean Resorts), and the logo and Categories are included to make the implementation easier. I have provided a detailed explanation of changes made (from the three source articles Parkdean Holidays, Park Resorts, and Parkdean Resorts) in the collapsed green box above, and a summary explanation at the top of this overall thread. My COI is declared on my userpage, on the top of this page, and on the talkpage of my draft. Any questions or suggestions, please let me know! Thanks very much. TerryBG (talk) 06:00, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - I have looked at the proposed improvements and many of the changes look reasonable to me. Unfortunately editors, including myself, who have tried to help COI editors in the past have faced criticism for doing so and I am very regrettably no longer able to help. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 11:43, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @TerryBG: I have assessed your request. Here are some notes below:
Infobox: Everything looked great. I recommend creating an "Operations" section in the article to give information about the company like the number of employees and revenue.
Lede: I removed the second paragraph as it read as promotional and was not notable.
History section: I removed a lot of the parks that Parkdean bought because it was turning into a list that was difficult to read. I did not include the information about the mascots or entertainment because it is off-topic. I am concerned that the Park Resorts section is longer than the Parkdean Holidays, but I think that means we need more information about the corporate history of the later. I did not include the awards because I did not think they were notable.
Corona: I removed some of the company's response regarding good works because Wikipedia is not here to promote good causes. I would consider its inclusion if there was something notable about them, like they were the only company doing these actions.
Please review my edits and let me know if you have any questions or if I missed anything. Z1720 (talk) 02:44, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Z1720, thank you so much for spending the time to review, assess, and implement these changes! I realize it was a sizable and fairly time-consuming edit request to review, especially since it was a merger and correction of three different wiki articles. I have three comments, below:

1. I will do additional research and see if there is any more information online about the corporate history of Parkdean Holidays, to add to that section.

2. In terms of your recommendation "I recommend creating an 'Operations' section in the article to give information about the company like the number of employees and revenue", I will see if there is enough information currently online in reliable sources for an entire section on that. My sense, from having researched the merger and new company, is that there may not be. Therefore, for the time being, I would like to request, if possible, that you add the sentence below, which covers operations (at least at the end of 2015, and I could research to see if there is more current info to add later) to the "Merge" section. It was in my draft (in the first paragraph of this section), and independently cited; you omitted it but did not happen to mention why.

Upon completion of the merger in November 2015, Parkdean Resorts operated 73 holiday parks across the UK, serving 1.8 million customers, with 22,200 caravan owners, 35,400 pitches, and 400,000 domestic holiday sales across their estate.[1][2]

3. I would like to request that you remove the "advert" template at the top of the article. That template never belonged on this article in the first place. This article was created (apparently at AFC [3]) in March 2016 [4], but the template is dated August 2012 (!). The person that created this new article seems to have copied the template from the top of the Parkdean Holidays wiki article at that time: [5]. (I have no idea why they kept the template, except that they copied the infobox and maybe the advert tag got copied along with it.) In any case, when the article was moved from AFC to article-space in October 2016, the mover did not remove the template, even though there is nothing promotional in the draft [6]. Anyway, regardless of the bizarre circumstances of its origin, I think we can agree that there is nothing promotional in the article at present.

OK, thanks very much again, Z1720! Let me know if any issues .... -- TerryBG (talk) 12:22, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TerryBG Here are my thoughts below:
2. This section sounded very promotional to me, so I did not include it. However, it can be reworded if we can get the most current stats (from before COVID) and focus on better language. Here is how I would format the sentence, "Parkdean Resorts operates 73 holiday parks in the UK, with XX million people visiting their parks in 20XX." The rest of the information is extra detail that is not needed.
3. I took another look at the article, did some copyediting, and removed the banner at the top.
Let me know if you have any other concerns or questions. Z1720 (talk) 02:40, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks very much Z1720. I will see if I can find any stats online of more current but pre-COVID numbers. I note that as of February 2020 the total number of parks is now 67 [7] (as noted in the lead and infobox of this wiki article), but that article doesn't list other stats. I'll see if any more info is out there. Thanks again for all of your help. TerryBG (talk) 05:36, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again Z1720, I finally found the pre-covid operational stats that you requested several months ago (your comment number 2 above). Could you please add the information (below) to the article (presumably at the bottom of the "Merge" section, unless you want to create an "Operations" section of only one sentence)? If so, thanks very much and I appreciate your conscientious advice. TerryBG (talk) 23:26, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As of early 2020, Parkdean Resorts had 20,000 owners of on-site private caravans and lodges, and in its previous peak season of August 2019 had 120,000 people staying at its parks attended by 8,000 employees.[1]
  1. ^ Walsh, Dominic (17 February 2020). "Parkdean Resorts: Park life adds Bear Grylls to mix for all the people". The Times. Retrieved 23 June 2021.
PS: Also, the employee number in the infobox should also be changed accordingly (from "6,000" to "8,000"), so I have now given that reference a "ref name" so that it can be used for the infobox as well. Could you implement that change? Thanks! TerryBG (talk) 23:32, 23 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox update and operations stats

As noted at the very bottom of the "Edit request part 2" subsection above, the article needs pre-covid operational stats. Here they are, cited by The Times:

As of early 2020, Parkdean Resorts had 20,000 owners of on-site private caravans and lodges, and in its previous peak season of August 2019 had 120,000 people staying at its parks attended by 8,000 employees.[1]

Could someone please add this information to the bottom of the "Merge" section?

Also, per the same citation, the number of employees listed in the infobox needs to be updated from "Over 6,000 in peak season" (which was cited to a 2016 source) to "8,000 in peak season[1]".

Request Edit on the 28th of April, 2022

Hi, I work for Parkdean Resorts. I have read the Wikipedia Guideline recommending I don't edit the Parkdean Resorts page myself since I would be seen as biased, so I am requesting here on talk page instead.

My Request: The section for the pandemic response has several sentences that were added about the travel industry at large, and Parkdean is not mentioned in those articles. Can the articles and two sentences they support be removed?

but remained open for people to stay, despite many other parks in the industry closing.[1][2][3]

Welsh Health Minister Vaughan Gething objected to the parks staying open in Wales, saying "There's clear advice for people to avoid unnecessary travel and going to your caravan on the weekend doesn't strike me as necessary travel.".[4]

My Reason for the Request: Looking on other resort pages of similar companies, it seems typical to only include details about that specific company and not have paragraphs about the industry at large. Another good reason to delete these sentences is that they are very confusing because they don't follow a chronology: for example, Parkdean closed most facilities on the day that the "South Wales Argus" article was published and then Parkdean closed the parks as well three days later. So ending that paragraph with "but remained open for people to stay" when referring to an unknown time period is jarring to me, and I also assume it is jarring for readers of Wikipedia for the same reason.

Done I agree, and would add that the volatile early days of the pandemic saw both businesses and governments struggle to manage its consequences. Noting every single policy change without proper context or due weight is hardly encyclopedic, not to mention these sources don't even mention the subject. PK650 (talk) 00:53, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for the time! I appreciate you thinking it over and finding it worth applying. Jessica.N.Park (talk) 23:35, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request Edit on the 7th of May, 2022

Hello, this is Jessica. This is my second request to the Parkdean Resorts Wikipedia page, since I work for Parkdean and have a conflict of interest. User:PK650 kindly considered the last request, and is obviously very welcome to do so with this one as well. This request is just for cleaning up that same paragraph (about the COVID-19 response at Parkdean) so it makes more sense and reads more easily. Largely, I was hoping it could be slightly re-organized chronologically and I was also wondering if some phrases could be moved and a reference copied and repeated so that some sentences can be woven together more naturally. I put some example HTML below from the page to just show what I had in mind instead of trying to hard to explain. I made three changes from what is on the Wikipedia page at this moment.

My requested changes to consider to the section:

1) I cut the sentences apart to make it easier to see what is happening (could they be recombined into one paragraph after? there isn't much).

2) I moved the order, like moving the first sentence to the last sentence, mostly, and also slightly changing the order of the first three sentences (I had to copy a reference to do that, I don't believe that breaks any guidelines however)

2) I very slightly altered the wording on some of them, so they made more sense. For example, the placement of "government": it seems when the Government order took place has been misconstrued in the current telling, since the full government shutdown was in place on March 23, 2020 when Parkdean also entirely closed its parks. Is it possible to remove the government order phrase from the current section, and instead add it in to sentence about March 23, with that sentence also moved to the end of the paragraph so it is less confusing?

==COVID-19 pandemic response==
During the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom, Parkdean was criticized for not shutting down its travel parks during a time when the government was advising citizens to avoid non-essential travel.[1]
On 20 March 2020, Parkdean Resorts shut down all bars, restaurants, and complexes in its parks, but did not close the parks.[2]
At the time, Parkdean stated to the press that the caravans are standalone and separate from each other with 70% privately owned, and there was "no instruction or logic to evicting people who are enjoying the fresh air in their own space".[3]
People in multiple locations were concerned that the parks staying open would place pressure on sparsely populated areas that were already struggling to obtain food supplies[4] and that it would further spread the virus from metropolitan areas to remote rural areas that were poorly equipped to deal with it.[5]
There was concern that an influx of seasonal population to sparsely populated rural holiday locations had the potential to cripple their local health services at a time when they were very vulnerable.[6]
On 23 March 2020, when the UK government announced a nationwide lockdown, the company closed its parks to the public, and announced plans to re-open to the public on 6 July.[7]

Request Edit on 28th of July, 2022

Hello, I had 3 small requests about the history section, and then a stat to update.

1) Could the Covid-19 section be deprecated and made into a subsection of the history section? I'm ambivalent if dates are added (2020-2022).

2) Could the "merge" section be renamed "merger?"

3) Add this, or a shorter version?

Adding to £70 million invested in 2021, in April 2022 Parkdean announced another £70 million investment into its parks, for a total of a £140 million. The investment plan was expanded to include "850 new caravans and lodges, new developments at 16 parks and refreshed and upgraded chalets and lodges."[1]

4) Also, could the number of parks be updated? The company's official website lists 66, right now (there are three places it is at a different # on the Wiki page: the infobox, the lead, and the holiday parks section).

There are currently 66 Parkdean Resorts located across the United Kingdom.[2]

I know the request backlog is in constant flux on eta, but since it's been a month now, just wanted to check and see if any editors familiar with the page like @PK650: might be interested in checking the requests over? Jessica.N.Park (talk) 23:07, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Done Hi. I've taken care of most here, using my own language for the investment bit, and rearranging the history section to reflect WP:CRIT. PK650 (talk) 03:41, 31 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sponsorship

In 2022, Parkdean Resorts became the sponsorship for afternoon shows on Nicktoons. 2A02:C7E:4F1D:4000:35C5:4480:CD99:FBF2 (talk) 09:54, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request Edit on 12th of Sept, 2022

Hello, I was hoping to update the page with basic facts from the last year, and also streamline a messy section. They add a bit to the requests that @PK650: was kind enough to consider last July. Thank you! Jessica.N.Park (talk) 00:48, 13 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1) Could the line "There was concern that an influx of seasonal population to sparsely populated rural holiday locations had the potential to cripple their local health services at a time when they were very vulnerable" be removed for basically just repeating the sentence before it? Also, the two sentences before that are awkwardly conjoined, with an extra "and" at said conjunction. Could the "and" be replaced with "claimed"? Thanks!

3) Could employee # be updated in the infobox?

9,000 in peak season<ref>https://www.lancasterguardian.co.uk/health/coronavirus-heysham-caravan-park-donates-food-to-morecambe-bay-foodbank-2518660</ref>

2) Could this sentence be expanded with content mined from the same source?

In 2021 and 2022, Parkdean announced a number of park investments, for a total of £140 million. The investment plan included "850 new caravans and lodges," and developments at 16 parks.

Could it be expanded to:

At the time, Parkdean said advance bookings were at "record levels" and that it was recruiting over 7,000 seasonal workers.
