Proposed change to SIM's Chairman

  • What I think should be changed: Please change SIM's Chairman in the SIM information box from Tan Soo Jin to Euleen Goh.
  • Why it should be changed: SIM's current Chairman is Euleen Goh and is no longer Tan Soo Jin.

Proposed change to SIM's brands

  • What I think should be changed: This sentence is outdated: "The SIM Group provides its core services through three educational brands: SIM International Academy, SIM Global Education, and SIM Professional Development". Please change it to: "The SIM Group provides its core services through three educational brands: SIM Global Education, SIM Professional Development and Enterprise Learning, and Singapore Cambodia International Academy." Please also remove the entire section on SIM International Academy as it is no longer in operation: "In 2017, SIM International Academy will open its doors to offer Secondary 1 to 4 classes, leading to an International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), the equivalent of O levels."
  • Why it should be changed: SIM International Academy is no longer in operation. SIM started the Singapore Cambodia International Academy in Cambodia in 2018.

Proposed changes to "SIM Global Education" section

  • What I think should be changed: Under the "SIM Global Education" section, please change the numbers in this sentence to the following: "The institution has 16,000 students with about 25% being full-time international students from over 40 countries."
  • Why it should be changed: The numbers in the second sentence are not updated.

Proposed changes to "Graduate employment" section

  • What I think should be changed: Under the "Graduate employment" section, this sentence is outdated: "SIM reported that in 2016, 82.7 per cent of its graduates found jobs within six months after graduation. Among the total, 18.8 per cent of graduates were doing flexible work such as freelance, part-time or contract basis jobs. The median gross monthly salary of SIM graduates in 2015 and 2016 were at $2,700." The updated sentence should be: "SIM reported that 82.4 per cent of its 2019/2020 graduates found jobs within six months after graduation. Among the total, 57.1 per cent were in full-time jobs, 15.6 per cent were in part-time jobs, and 9.8 per cent were freelancers. The median starting gross monthly salary of those in full-time employment was $2,815."
  • Why it should be changed: The numbers have been updated.

Proposed changes to "SIM Professional Development" section

  • What I think should be changed: Please update the section name from "SIM Professional Development" to "SIM Professional Development and Enterprise Learning" as the name of that SIM sub-brand has changed. Please also update the figures in the section to the following: "SIM Professional Development and Enterprise Learning is a professional learning partner for enterprises and professionals. Annually, SIM trains close to 9,000 professionals through its 600 executive and business programmes. Its in-company training and consultancy services help companies optimize effectiveness in management and human resource development fields."
  • Why it should be changed: The name of this SIM arm has changed to SIM Professional Development and Enterprise Learning. Figures have also been updated to the latest numbers.

Proposed change to "SIM University" section

  • What I think should be changed: The wrong word is used in this sentence: "SIM University (UniSIM) was publicity funded private university in Singapore approved by the Ministry of Education." The right phrase should be "a publicly funded private university". Please use this sentence: "SIM University (UniSIM) was a publicly funded private university in Singapore approved by the Ministry of Education."
  • Why it should be changed: The right phrase should be "a publicly funded private university".

Proposed changes to "Campus" section

  • What I think should be changed: These two sentences, "The Singapore Institute of Management has four campuses across the west side of Singapore, making it the largest private education campus. The four campuses cover a total land area of 97,000 sqm.", should be updated to: "The Singapore Institute of Management has two campuses across the west side of Singapore. The two campuses cover a total land area of 120,000 sqm." For the section, "SIM headquarters", please use "SIM Headquarters", capitalising the "H" so that the case of the sub-headings are standardised. Please also remove the word, "two" from this sentence: "It houses lecture theatres, tutorial and seminar rooms, computer laboratories, two cafeterias, a multi-purpose hall that can seat up to 1,600 people and a management library." Under the "SIM Management House" section, please also remove the number, "20", from this sentence as the number of lecture theatres seems to have changed: "It includes 20 lecture theatres, function/seminar rooms, computer laboratories, a members' lounge, cafeteria, business center, bookshop, and library."
  • Why it should be changed: There are only two SIM campuses. The land area has also increased. There are more than two cafeterias at SIM campus. The number of lecture theatres in SIM Management House has changed.

Not done: I added the first proposed lined, but am replacing the rest of the information in the campus-related sections. In-depth detail about the campus and its facilities is largely irrelevant (and borderline promotional) for an article absent secondary sources describing them. Proposed changes to "SIM Campus development and extension"

  • What I think should be changed: As SIM University is no longer part of the Singapore Institute of Management, please shorten this paragraph to include only the facts, rather than the whole rationale behind the extension, which was to cater to the needs of SIM University. Please reduce the paragraphs to: "SIM announced a Master Plan to further expand its Clementi campus at a platform topping up ceremony on October 9, 2009.

The SIM Campus Development Master Plan cost $300 million and was expected to be completed by 2014, doubling its campus size with fully wired, state-of-the-art learning and teaching facilities." With the shortened content, it would make sense to put this portion as the last sub-section under the previous section, "SIM Campus", rather than have an entire section on its own.

  • Why it should be changed: SIM University is no longer part of the Singapore Institute of Management and has now been renamed to the Singapore University of Social Sciences. Therefore, it does not make sense to expand on SIM University in this section.

Proposed changes to "External links" section

  • What I think should be changed: Please remove the link to SIM University website as it no longer exists. Please include these two links as they are websites of SIM's sub-brands: SIM Professional Development and Enterprise Learning website (https://pdel.sim.edu.sg/) and Singapore Cambodia International Academy website (https://scia.edu.kh/).
  • Why it should be changed: SIM University website no longer exists. The addition of the two links are to SIM's current sub-brands.
