Retitle?

Shouldn't this be called "alien races" of the MCU? I don't think these are "species", but are more of alien races. Natg 19 (talk) 20:09, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Natg 19: I disagree, since alien races are species after all. We could even add a section on humans if we wanted to. IronManCap (talk) 18:47, 8 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Natg 19: I think we should maybe rename this to 'species and races' and add Wakandans though. @Facu-el Millo, InfiniteNexus, Sir Magnus, and Favre1fan93: Any thoughts? IronManCap (talk) 13:51, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Nope nope nope, that's not a race, that's a nationality. Anything about Wakandans should go on Features, under "Wakanda". Species is fine, it's more accurate, and nothing is gained by changing it to races. —El Millo (talk) 14:35, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Agree, plus, there isn't much to write about. What about mutants though? Sir Magnus has spoken! (So can you!) 16:14, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There's

WP:NORUSH. Mutants haven't even been introduced to the universe yet. —El Millo (talk) 16:21, 14 April 2021 (UTC)[reply

Celestials section and Eson

Random, non sequitur sentence appears in this section, "Eson the Searcher is one of the previous owners of the Power Stone." Huh? Jyg (talk) 02:46, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have edited that section, though the whole article still needs some work. Squeezdakat (talk) 09:32, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Inhumans

Is there any reason why there is no mention at all about the Inhumans? There was a whole TV series about them after all, even if it wasn't that popular. -- 2003:E5:3F3D:A400:109E:10C6:C2E4:3BE8 (talk) 20:38, 13 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This article primarily refers to media produced by Marvel Studios. InfiniteNexus (talk) 22:57, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit-warring

2601:645:980:7a00:1d28:e6cb:4574:d736, please do not edit-war and explain your edits here. As I have explained, the article primarily refers to media produced by Marvel Studios, so Inhumans are not notable for their own section. Similarly, only one mutant has appeared in the MCU, so there is no need for an entire section dedicated to that. InfiniteNexus (talk) 21:32, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Since there is no response, I will move the Inhumans and mutants to the § Other species section. InfiniteNexus (talk) 04:14, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Article's Purpose?

I'm having a hard time seeing what this article's purpose is. I see it was split off from the characters article, although the information here feels like they are all just bits from the comics articles' "In other media" sections and just an exhaustive list of plot details that lean more on the

WP:FANCRUFT side of things than to provide real-world context for its inclusion in the encyclopedia. This is more so something you'd expect to see and search for on a fandom wiki, and is a compilation of whichever species the main characters are whilst largely going unsourced given its plot-focused nature. There's no criteria for what a "main species" is, and frankly, I think this list is unneeded repetition of what can be covered at the comics articles. If there's anything that doesn't have an article, the MCU info can be moved to the relevant sections where they are, such as at List of alien races in Marvel Comics. There was consensus against merging these MCU-specific lists into comics lists the other day, which is why this article still exists. It used to be a very large section on the Characters page, alongside the Teams list, before they were split here (without discussion, if I remember correctly). InfiniteNexus (talk) 00:43, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yeesh. That discussion seems to have gone all over the place. I'm not sure it's worth going down that road again anytime soon, but this article does not seem useful as a standalone article in its current form. With the changes that happened to the Characters article (wherein that became an overview), I think we could merge the Species contents into a section there with a bulleted list (or even in prose), as there are several paragraphs here that are only a few sentences long, where we could explain how the leading characters are of different species. I know it is preferred much of the MCU-specific contents is on MCU-centric articles, although I see no issues in leaving some of the more overly specific details to comics articles or even the media articles themselves, other than having to update redirect locations. Including MCU adaptation details on the comics articles aids readers in easily accessing details on the specific species subject they are looking for, and not all species in the MCU are inherently notable for the encyclopedia. Trailblazer101 (talk) 02:04, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that this is article is unencyclopedic fan cruft and should be merged/deleted, along with Features of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cjhard (talk) 02:23, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Due to the large number of redirects linking to this page, and also past consensus to keep this page, a formal AfD would be needed to delete or merge this page. Though I will note that the Features article does a substantially better job with real-world info and sourcing than Species and Teams. InfiniteNexus (talk) 15:46, 23 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
