Is there a history of corruption at Novartis?

Photo Change Request

NOTE: I’m proposing the following edit and photo change request for FleishmanHillard on behalf of Novartis. I am a paid editor and aware of the COI guidelines.

Photo Change Request

The photo currently in this article is an outdated photo of Vasant Narasimhan from 2018. I recently submitted a current photo (2022) to Wikimedia Commons on Novartis’ behalf. I am hoping to have the photo currently used on this article exchanged for this up-to-date version:

New photo: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Vasant_Narasimhan_2022.jpg

Per the guidelines, I know editors with a COI may add/update article photos, which I’m happy to do, but first wanted to confirm I am clear to do so, or turn this over to another editor to handle. Please let me know how I should proceed. Thanks for your time and consideration! Jon Gray (talk) 19:14, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead: I have reviewed these proposed changes and suggest that you go ahead and make the proposed changes to the page. Happy Editing--IAmChaos 18:08, 19 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@IAmChaos: Will do. Thank you! Jon Gray (talk) 18:48, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Request – Lead, Early Life (new) and Personal life

NOTE: I’m proposing the following edits for FleishmanHillard on behalf of Novartis. I am a paid editor and aware of the COI guidelines. I’m proposing the following to a) suggest a new section in the article and b) add additional information about Vas. Relevant sourcing and proposed verbiage/content moves are below. Please let me know of any questions or comments as you review. Thanks for your time and consideration. Jon Gray (talk) 18:59, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lead

  • Suggest adding the following sentence to the end of existing lead section:

Narasimhan is one of the youngest people to lead an international company[1] and the first person of Indian origin to serve as chief executive officer at a large pharmaceutical company.[2]

Not done The first claim, while in the caption for a photo in the cited article from a reliable source, is clearly an over-statement (imo). The subject of this article is in his mid-40's, and there are a number of CEO's of "an international company" in their 20's and 30's. The second claim, while strictly true, is not particularly notable. Lots of CEO's of major companies of Indian descent (without even looking very far, Indra Nooyi comes to mind as someone of Indian descent who preceded him by 12 years). Duke Gilmore (talk)

Early Life (proposed new section)

  • Some information currently in the Biography and Personal Life section may be better suited in an “Early Life” section to improve flow of the article’s narrative. With that in mind, we propose that the first sentence of the existing Biography section (“Narasimhan received his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences…”) and the second and third sentences of the Personal Life section (“His parents originate from Tamil Nadu, India…”) be moved into this new section, along with a couple of new pieces of info. If accepted, the new section would read as follows:

Narasimhan was born in Pittsburgh in 1976 to parents who originated from Tamil Nadu, India.[3] Narasimhan’s mother was a nuclear engineer for Public Service Electric and Gas Company and his father was an executive at Hoeganaes Corporation.[4]

Narasimhan received his bachelor's degree in biological sciences from

John F. Kennedy School of Government.[5]

During Narasimhan’s undergraduate and post-graduate studies, Narasimhan worked on public health programs including with the American Red Cross in The Gambia[6][7] and child poverty in India.[8]

During his early career, his work in public health focused on malaria and HIV treatment programs in Africa.[9]

Done Sort of...Changed first section to "early life and education" and inserted the proposed language. Duke Gilmore (talk)

Personal life

  • Per above, we propose moving the second and third sentences of this section into the newly proposed “Early Life” section.

Partly done Please see comments above. Cheers. Duke Gilmore (talk)

Hello – despite submitting all required permissions from the photo owner, Vasant’s previous photo was recently removed from Wikimedia Commons on erroneous grounds. We’ve added a different photo to Wikimedia, located at the link below, and are hoping to have it added to his article.
