November 5, 2002 was a national election day. New mayors and city council members were elected for both Kutttawa and Eddyville. Amendments to the Kentucky constitution, Senators, and Congressmen were also voted on in this election.

The newly elected members of the Eddyville City Council are Bob McDonald, Nancy Slaton, Jay Cannon, Scott Wallace, Allan Aycock, and Irvin Gilson.
