Suggested Page Updates

Hello editors,

I am a current employee of Xperi Corp and would like to only suggest, for your consideration, factual changes for this page. My intention is to fully comply with Wikipedia's T&C by posting this talk message and identifying myself clearly.

I will not make any changes to this page myself.

If possible, please consider updating to the current company logo, found here. This reflects the name change that followed Tessera's acquisition of DTS and is noted in the last bullet point. --Sam xperi (talk) 22:32, 28 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Several Updates Needed

Hi editors,

I am a current employee of Xperi and would like to suggest, for your consideration, factual changes for this page. My intention is to fully comply with Wikipedia's T&C by posting this on the Talk page and identifying myself clearly. I will not make any changes to the article myself.

The following information needs to be updated in the introductory section. I have linked sources for each change.

Xperi Inc. (formerly part of Xperi Holding Corporation) is an American company that invents, develops and delivers technologies that power smart devices, connected cars, and entertainment experiences through its businesses and brands—TiVo, DTS, HD Radio, IMAX Enhanced and Perceive. These brands set the stage for the media platform business Xperi is pursuing as an engagement-based, recurring advertising and data analytics revenue stream through the continued growth in streaming to smart TVs, IPTV and connected cars.

Xperi is headquartered in San Jose, California, with additional offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Xperi’s businesses serve up 16 billion discovery queries every quarter, powering 30 million video households, and licensing 90 million cars and billions of consumer devices.

The sentence that currently states “Xperi Holding Corporation was reconfigured as a subsidiary of the combined company” should be deleted as it is incorrect.

As Wikipedia points out, the history section is currently in list format, but it will likely read better as prose. I suggest we move some of what is currently in the intro down to the history section for a better flow.

History:

Tessera, a former subsidiary of Xperi, licensed its chip packaging technology to numerous semiconductor manufacturers, including Intel and Samsung Electronics.

As the company evolved, it expanded its business through the formation of Invensas, an innovator in next-generation

DTS, Inc.
, an audio technologies company; and assets acquisition from Pelican Imaging.

Tessera completed the acquisition of DTS, Inc. (“DTS”), a publicly-traded developer of sound-based technologies, in December 2016. At the time of the acquisition, Tessera Technologies, Inc. and DTS were combined under the newly-formed Tessera Holding Corporation. During the first quarter of 2017, the company introduced its new corporate name, Xperi Corporation, launched a new corporate logo and began trading under a new ticker symbol (XPER).

On December 19, 2019, Xperi Corporation and TiVo Corporation announced their intent to merge. The surviving entity operated under the Xperi Holding Corporation name, and became one of the largest licensing companies in the world. The merger was completed on June 1, 2020.

On July 1, 2022, Xperi Holding Corporation completed the acquisition of Vewd Software Holdings Limited for approximately $59 million of cash and $50 million of debt. Vewd is a global provider of over-the-top (“OTT”) and hybrid TV solutions.

On October 1, 2022, Xperi Inc. spun off from Xperi Holding Corporation, which is now known as Adeia Inc. (Nasdaq: ADEA). Xperi and Adeia now operate as two independent, publicly traded companies. The semiconductor IP licensing business remained with Adeia, while DTS, TiVo, IMAX Enhanced, HD Radio and Perceive businesses and brands continue with Xperi.

Today, Xperi is focused on growing its independent media platform business, riding the advanced technology curve in auto infotainment and safety, and creating disruption in the AI space through edge-based computing.

Not done: The proposed change would render the article unencyclopedic. Please fix the tone, style, and referencing. Best regards, -- Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 09:03, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
