The documentation does not say where this template should be placed. Does it go on the article or talk page? Does it go on the top or bottom of the page?

Sadads, the template states "See guidelines for writing about novels. Further suggestions might be found on the article's talk page." The guidelines for writing about novels has no mention of the word "stub". Can the link to the guideline be more specific? --Marc Kupper|talk 04:47, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Marc: "Stubs" are short, frequently unreferenced or barely referenced articles, which have a lot of opportunity for expansion through writing and research. This template, is part of a larger class of "stub templates" used by Wikipedia:WikiProject_Stub_sorting at the bottom of stub articles. For more information about what a stub is, see WP:Stub. Let me know if I can help you at all with writing about novels or using this template. Sadads (talk) 17:23, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Doing a new ping @Marc Kupper:, Sadads (talk) 17:23, 5 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Sadads: I know what stubs are. My question was about using the template. I'm trying to remember what the sequence of events was. I believe I was on an article (written by someone else) that was a stub and so wanted to flag it with the template.
While I really wanted to add a hatnotice and in looking around I ran across this template and:
  • The usage section in the documentation does not say where the template should be used. Does it on on the article or the article talk page? Does it go at the top of bottom of the page?
  • While trying to figure out how to use the template I clicked on See guidelines for writing about novels which the template linked to. I was seeking information on how to flag an article as a stub. The word "stub" never appears on that article.
  • This template is about novels in the 2000s. It's silent on if a similar template exists for novels in the 1900s.
For some reason I failed to also click on the link to Stub that's also displayed by the template. That one mentions Wikipedia:WikiProject_Stub_sorting/Stub_types which sadly, does not mention how to stub articles about novels. Searching for the word "book" also produces no joy. --Marc Kupper|talk 05:58, 13 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Marc Kupper: I am not sure what you are asking: simply add either {{Stub}} or a more specific stub tag (like {{2000s-sf-novel-stub}} to the bottom of an article that meets the criteria for a stub. Sadads (talk) 15:03, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
