Created

The Disney products Template:DisneyConsumer was created on 01-April-2008 by long-term Wikipedia user Wikid77, as a rollout section from Template:Disney to allow more space for expanding the coverage about Walt Disney. -Wikid77 (talk) 09:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollout as navpages

01-April-2008: A general subject such as Walt Disney topics could easily include a thousand major wikilinks, not only to company divisions, officers, and franchises, but also to cultural icons, major media films, famous actors, timeless animated characters, stock-market events, etc. Consequently, the main Disney navbox has had to rollout navbox sub-topic sections into other navpages, such as to

Template:Disneyparks. The tactic of using rollout navpages allows more topics to be considered without an arbitrary cut-off as to what is noteworthy about Walt Disney. Currently, the rollout sections defer the wikilinks to about 350 articles of company divisions, personnel, parks, resorts, TV programs, and radio stations. -Wikid77 (talk) 09:18, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply

Doubled franchise links

01-April-2008: Immediately after separating the new Template:DisneyConsumer created from the larger original Template:Disney, I have expanded the list of major Disney franchises, doubling the list to include the following 10 major franchises: 101 Dalmatians, Aladdin (film), Donald Duck, Haunted Mansion, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Lizzie McGuire, The Mighty Ducks, Muppets, and Roger Rabbit. Others should probably be added, but I'm not sure of major status, and are "Snow White" or "Fantasia" also franchises? -Wikid77 (talk) 14:49, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Note: Tiana is mentioned on the Princess page, but has not been added to the official cast listing yet. This appears to be either a timing issue (wait for the film to be released) or an editorial oversight. The latter would not be a surprise considering older info on the site is listed as "currently...".

Anything other than these items (or variations thereof, such as "Little Mermaid" as an extension of the existing "Ariel") should be removed from the template. Any disagreements? SpikeJones (talk) 02:39, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have one - need to verify with with DCP why "Villains" aren't easily found on their site, or how specific character sets are handled (ie 101 dalmations, muppets, ducks, etc). There's obviously a franchise with merchandise, storefronts, dedicated books/shows, etc. Perhaps it's not a DCP-franchise, but one owned by a different area of the company? Perhaps this cleanup idea is not so easily done. SpikeJones (talk) 04:45, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think who Kingdom Hearts should be on the template. Since there disney products of video games, manga, and action figures.--ToonsFan (talk) 09:51, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kingdom Hearts is part of Disney Interactive Studios, just as Toy Story is part of Pixar or Phineas and Ferb part of Disney Channel. This is for main franchises and studios. --LoЯd ۞pεth 02:06, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Remove franchises?

There is already a larger Disney franchises template that lists the franchises of The Walt Disney Company. So it is not too necessary to include them in this template more focused on the Disney Consumer Products subsidiary and related divisions. BrookTheHumming (talk) 17:41, 31 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
