This template was considered for deletion on 2010 January 17. The result of the discussion was "Keep".

1. The first reason is to disambiguate between the different films.
2. The second reason as it is possible that is what the franchise may be called.
3. The third reason and this is especially for the second name is because of the strong consensus at the Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2010 January 24#Category:Avatar (film).

I'm perfectly okay with this. I'd prefer the first name though, since it is a franchise, not just a film. My reasoning behind this name was simply because

  • TFD is not the appropriate place to discuss simple renaming. It primarily handles deletions and mergers. Renaming a template is no different than renaming an article. Either an editor simply moves the page, or if there is a problem with that (controversy, need for assistance), it can be taken to Wikipedia:Requested moves. To my knowledge the only type of rename that requires XFD discussion is moving a category, because technical limitations mean that any category renaming is effectively a deletion of the old name. --RL0919 (talk) 15:15, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
