Amateur/High-School

I added the MSHSL and Shattuck St. Mary's to the list. Wondering where the Minnesota Thoroghbreds should be added. They're high-school age (19 and under), but they're hockey only. I added them to the hockey teams listing for now. Limasbravo (talk) 14:07, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd say remove them. While Shattuck may have a formidable program, you have to draw the line somewhere.

Shouldn't the MSHSL be listed at the very least? MSHSL events, especially the end of year state tournaments are much more attended and known than the junior teams are. Is only teams college age or older? If so, then the template should be reworded and the NAHL teams should be removed as well. Limasbravo (talk) 16:19, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Major Junior (QMJHL, OHL, WHL) and Div I NCAA, seem to be the threshold. So NAHL should go too.

So, what does "Major Junior" mean? As far as I know, the OHL, QMJHL, and WHL are all Canadian-based leagues, with the USHL and NAHL being the United States' primary Junior "A" league So, the USHL and/or NAHL should be included, but nothing below that. I think a link should be provided to the MSHSL as a parent organization. Also, any thoughts on historical/defunct teams? I think a section for historical teams would be a nice addition.
