Though it was a separate league, would it be appropriate to include the

AFL-NFL Merger agreement in large part recognized the AFL as a fully-fledged league. If the merged entity had merely chosen to adopt a new name, we would have either already included the AFL's history in this template, or would have excluded the pre-1970 NFL seasons entirely.
