Proposal to consolidate sections

Hi - this Template is currently divided into three categories:

  • Players
  • Coaches
  • Veterans

I've reviewed selection criteria available online (both at the official website, and via Wayback Machine), and have updated at National College Baseball Hall of Fame#Induction per cited sources.

Two points of consideration:

  • The original (2006) selection criteria outlined recognition for Players, Coaches, and Teams; see especially the PDF cited on the main page. While there is language around how Veteran (pre-1947) persons could be nominated, there was no differentiation in recognition (that is, recognition was simply for Players or Coaches ... as no Team was ever recognized).
  • At various points, criteria were revised (especially, pre-1947 gave way to pre-1964, and small school categories were created) however recognition remained simply as Player or Coach.

Given the above, it seems that this template should be simplified to place all inductees into either the Players or Coaches category. And deprecate the Veterans category, as there is no linkage from categorization of how someone was nominated (such pre-1947 veteran, pre-1964 veteran, small school) and what recognition they received (which is simply classed as a Player or as a Coach in any of the induction announcements found on the website). This is fine with me. I didn't think much of the split in the first place. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:37, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
