Definite-Article Grammar

Would it not be more gramatically correct and pleasent to the eye if the template read is supported by the [task force name], rather than simply is supported by [task force name]? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AltiusBimm (talkcontribs) 05:31, 16 February 2012‎

This task force must be added into this template. --George Ho (talk) 18:27, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Could you add the relevant changes to the sandbox first? Thanks — Mr. Stradivarius (have a chat) 07:53, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sandbox updated. --George Ho (talk) 15:06, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Note: Two things. First, where (at line 232) you put |tf 6={{{harry-potter-task-force|}}}, I believe this should read |tf 7={{{harry-potter-task-force|}}}; second, there have been a number of sandbox edits between 16 August 2011 (when the live template was last updated) and 29 November 2011 (the last sandbox edit prior to yours of today). This means that the difference between sandbox and live is significant, so if I carry out approved practice and copy sandbox to live, it won't be merely a case of one extra taskforce, but a number of other changes too. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:38, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
 Fixed. --George Ho (talk) 18:43, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you can copy-and-paste portions without overhauling the whole template. How's that? --George Ho (talk) 18:44, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Done it does mean that the second group of hooks has entries at positions 1 & 7 but the lack of 2-6 won't cause trouble. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:55, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

File:Harry Potter wordmark.svg

As confirmed, this is American work of Harry Potter. It must replace File:Hogwarts coat of arms colored with shading.png because logo is more convincing; see here. --George Ho (talk) 16:36, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Partly done: I copied it; but the Twilight portal isn't showing. I've found that thsi is because |TF_1_PORTAL=Twilight isn't being recognised. I dropped a note at ]

Edit request

Could someone please adjust the banner so that Category:Automatically assessed novel articles is not required, which will remove the error from the template page? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 17:51, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just an FYI but this applies to over a dozen protected WikiProject templates.

Edit request (regarding a name change)

The

force's forums. -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 22:00, 6 January 2016 (UTC)[reply

Sorry - I'm none too clear what you are asking to be changed - most things seem to be redirected. You just need to go through the articles etc. that reference the redirect and update those to the new "named" template. Or am I missing something. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:31, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Small side note - why isn't the main navigation template named for "Rick Riordan" rather than the series - or is that your point. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:31, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've updated the name. Is the image still suitable? Do you want the category tree moving over as well, i.e. all subcategories of Category:Percy Jackson task force? And what about the parameter names percy-jackson-task-force= and percy-jackson-importance=? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:24, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have now moved all the relevant categories and updated the template to populate the new categories. The only remaining issue to decide for this template is the new parameter names. We need to retain the old parameter names for backwards compatibility but I suggest updating to accept rick-riordan-task-force and rick-riordan-importance as well. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:06, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds workable. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:36, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've done it. Perhaps you or someone else would like to update the documentation? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:53, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ & Keinalewis -- Thank you so much; this is exactly what RRTF wanted done. Sorry, I can't believe how ambiguous my initial request was. RRTF's main concern was having "this page is of interest to Percy Jackson task force" appearing on the template (instead of the same text with Rick Riordan task force), which is now solved. The parameter and category issues were also a concern, but the task force decided they would be all right to work around if nothing got changed -- these are now both solved. And, to MSGJ, the trident image is still used by RRTF as its logo, so it is just fine for this template. Once again, thank you for your help and sorry for the confusion/delayed response/etc. Happy editing! -- 2ReinreB2 (talk) 07:12, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. The only thing left for you to do is update Template:WikiProject Novels/doc. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:54, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Diary of a Wimpy Kid task force

Please add the

WP:DOAWK
task force into the "this template is supported by <task force name> task force." So it should show:

 |tf 5={{{DOAWK-task-force|}}}
  |TF_5_LINK = Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Diary of a Wimpy Kid task force
  |TF_5_NESTED = DOAWK

Thanks.

The Pancake of Heaven!: Upon first glance at the code, it's unclear exactly what lines you would like this to be inserted. May you update the code at Template:WikiProject Novels/sandbox to show more clearly what you mean? Thanks. — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 15:28, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply

MSGJ, you made the last edits on the template. Do you have more context into the request here? — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 18:33, 11 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, the |tf 5= you suggested (or |tf 6=) doesn't work in the template. You need to add it at |HOOK_TF= with {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/taskforces}}, and I believe you also need to update |HOOK_NESTED= with {{WPBannerMeta/hooks/tfnested}}. Let me take a stab at this. I'll ping back shortly— Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 19:33, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@
The Pancake of Heaven!: I believe this is what you are requesting. See Template:WikiProject Novels/sandbox for a cumulative sample output of all task forces. Before we make this live, I wanted to clarify that your request does not include importance categories (like Category:Top-importance Harry Potter articles and Category:Mid-importance Science fiction novels articles, but for your taskforce), right? If that's the case, your task force will be one of only 2 task forces without these categories. If you'd like these categories, I should update the sandbox again and get another confirmation. Hope this helps, and please let me know. — Andy W. (talk ·ctb) 19:48, 12 June 2016 (UTC)[reply

The Pancake of Heaven!: Partly done, and added a first article to the task force. :) Do you need task force quality / importance categories via |DOAWK-importance= too, which would require "Category:Top/mid/low/etc-importance Diary of a Wimpy Kid articles", etc? — Andy W. Names of taskforces

As suggested above by User:AltiusBimm back in 2012, the template should use the definite article ("the") when referring to a task force. Feel free to refer to any number of other WikiProject templates for reference, such as Template:WikiProject Film, Template:WikiProject Biography, or Template:WikiProject Japan. (The word "the" seems to generally be included in the link text.) V2Blast (talk) 07:41, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would you like to make the required changes to Template:WikiProject Novels/sandbox (specifically by changing the TF_n_NAME parameters) and then reactivate the request? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:15, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
