Hi. I came across now archived

Heavy equipment modelling

Iirc, you are familiar with engineering and modelling and so may be able to help with this topic. And did you see those amusing photos of an earth mover dwarfed by the Ever Given recently? That would make a good diorama – "we're going to need a bigger digger!" I also read that the blockage has disrupted an important supply chain for the UK – garden gnomes! We could use some heavy lifting in this case, please... Andrew🐉(talk) 11:58, 17 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help at Commons.

Hello Andy Dingley and good evening.

I appreciate the comment explained in Commons. The truth is that it also seemed unethical for me that a large part of my images that I uploaded, in which the author is known and we have his date of death, 1936. Also, I don't understand why Elcobbola decided to delete the photos that were colourized and retouched by myself, when other users upload similar works and also when the same case occurs by other users and nothing happens for it. And basically without explaining anything or anything to me for why were deleted.

In addition, I have never attacked images of other users and I always documented the best I could at the time tp upload them.

As for the "Sockpuppet", it's not true either. It is correct that I share the same IP with HefePine23, but for a simple reason, he is my brother and, like me, he had joined the project to collaborate with Wikipedia. It is true that (speaking on his part as well) he has committed some mistakes (which he acknowledges and apologizes himself for), but it seems to me from a neutral and objective point of view that it was a somewhat deliberate act from Elcobbola for having blocked me and deleted "in situ" all my contributions when, as well you explained on that page, the author and his date of death are known.

To tell you the truth, my brother and I have decided to leave the project forever, but we would like, if it is possible, restore the images of clear public domain, also those that I colored, a process that cost me so much work and time.

Thank you again for your input. I have tried to respond you at Commons, but being blocked I can't even open a discussion. Receive kind regards. --SandyShores03 (talk) 20:04, 25 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Andy, I hope you're doing well!

I have manoeuvred myself into a long discussion at Talk:Two-stroke diesel engine by producing way too many bytes of text, but maybe you could comment on the matter. Basically it's a dispute about the inclusion of two sections; one one DERV diesel fuel, and one on the recent development in two-stroke aircraft diesel technology. I oppose the inclusion of both, because two-stroke marine diesel engines run on Bunker C, not regular DERV diesel fuel (thus, I believe that describing the latter is misleading), and the recent interest in diesel aircraft has not (yet) spawned any usable two-stroke aircraft diesel engines (despite development), which is why I believe that speculating about *recent* aircraft two-stroke diesel engines is also misleading, especially if the section on the fuel outlines that diesel fuel has so many advantages in (modern) aircraft diesel engines (that don't exist in the two-stroke variety). I would appreciate your comment because I believe that you are a knowledgeable person. Best regards, --Johannes (Talk) (Contribs) (Articles) 16:11, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder if you realise just how true this statement later turned out to be in February 2020. One of the two most disingenuous and unpleasant individuals I ever came across. New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021

New Page Review queue September 2021

Hello Andy Dingley,

Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here
.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Andy. Long time, no see. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and may the coming New Year bring you happiness and good fortune. And, if you don't celebrate Christmas, then please take it as a Happy Hanukkah, a great Dhanu Sankranti, a blessed Hatsumode, or whatever holiday you want to insert there.
