JG Barbara's article

I don't understand that my submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. I adopted a neutral point of view and I gave a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please provide examples of miswriting. Jgbarbara49 (talk) 17:05, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

this section, and don't take this personally at all. I'm sure I'd be honored to have a supervising professor like you when I hopefully start my PhD in the not-too-far future. Festucalextalk 18:33, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply

Many thanks for your prompt and detailed reply. You convinced men with the omission argument. Of course most academics would simply create a new anonymous account with a new IP to post their biography with changes. But the omission argument makes me think that autobiographies would indeed need guarantors. I don’t know what kind of PhD you are looking for but I do supervise doctorates in Paris with university Paris Diderot in the history and philosophy of biology (although not in genetics and evolution). Also if you want to be my guarantor, feel free! My cursus was straight and it is reported on academic and institution websites (see FENS website for example in the external links). Anyway thanks again for your time. Jean-Gaël Barbara.Jgbarbara49 (talk) 05:04, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Trial of Lina E.

On 21 July 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Trial of Lina E., which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that upon the announcement of the verdict in the trial of Lina E., court spectators shouted "fuck class justice" and "you are friends of fascists"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Trial of Lina E.. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Trial of Lina E.), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Women in Red

Hi there, Festucalex, and welcome to Women in Red. We look forward to more articles about women scientists and activists. In this connection, you might find it useful to look at some of our essays, perhaps starting with the Primer. And as you are an Arab, you might be interested in contributing to our August focus on women from the Arab League countries. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 07:36, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Ipigott: A very good suggestion. I've already found some articles I'd like to create in the Meetup 280 page. Small question though: does the article have to be in these lists for it to count towards the WikiProject? Festucalextalk 08:50, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is absolutely no requirement for an article to appear in the Women in Red lists. If you are aware of other women from these countries who deserve an article, you can list them on the meetup page under "Redlinked names not currently included in a Women in Red redlist" where other editors will be able to work on them if you do not have time yourself.--Ipigott (talk) 10:01, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New pages patrol invitation

Hello, Festucalex.
  • The
    new pages patrol
team is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • I believe that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read
    project talk page
    with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider
    applying here
    .

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Thanks, Hey man im josh (talk) 17:25, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Hey man im josh: How nice of you. I was actually going to request NPP permission soon. I'll do it now. Thanks for the nudge. Festucalextalk 17:45, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for being willing to give it a shot! Hey man im josh (talk) 17:48, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh: Done. Now we wait. By the way, if administrators have a mop, what do patrollers have? A whistle? Festucalextalk 18:00, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some masking tape, string, and a broom with a broken handle? If you bend over you can still use the broom to sweep! Hey man im josh (talk) 18:02, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh: Some good boots and an ice pick for climbing the massive pile of papers. Festucalextalk 18:04, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Steel toed rubber boots and a dull ice pick, best I can do. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:05, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh: That'll have to do! Festucalextalk 18:06, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New page reviewer granted

Hi Festucalex. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at

the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord
. In addition, please remember:

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 22:44, 10 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Festucalex, you declined the article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Klimaseniorinnen. While I understand the issue about more neutral sources, we looked them up and didn't find them. So my question is now: Should we erase those paragraphs and then submit again, or how do we go about it? Another question: In the meantime, an article in German about the Klimaseniorinnen has emerged, here: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klimaseniorinnen_Schweiz does it maybe make more sense to just translate that one? Thanks in advance! Agneta Melzer (talk) 09:29, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Well that is not about the general article, I was talking about some parts. How about the other question to translate an already submitted article that is currently online in German? Agneta Melzer (talk) 11:02, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Agneta Melzer: You definitely can translate the German article, but please read Wikipedia:Translating German Wikipedia before you do. There are significant differences between English and German Wikipedia that you have to keep in mind. Festucalextalk 11:16, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
