hi

what is your understanding of policies made by the government body?Are these policies "laws" or are they merely a course of action agenda statements? Grotesquetruth (talk) 14:36, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Very much the latter. A policy is not a law; a law is either a piece of primary legislation by a legislature, or secondary legislation made under devolved authority. The execution of a policy may involve these, but it really doesn't have to. GenevieveDEon (talk) 19:13, 18 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tagging

You should not be speedy tagging articles until you have more experience. When you tag an article, you must notify the creator of the article of the tag. You failed to do this when you tagged 2022 WhatsApp Outage.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:40, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am a former editor, although it's been many years and I have forgotten my original username. (I disclose this fact on my user page.) I admit the error, and I appreciate you catching it, but I don't lack experience. GenevieveDEon (talk) 14:54, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What you say on your userpage is that you edited as an IP, not that you have another account whose name you don't remember. Whichever story is correct - maybe both - there's no way for me to assess how much experience you have.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:20, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You're right; I'd forgotten that I'd expressed myself so cautiously; I've updated it now. And your point is well made. Thank you. GenevieveDEon (talk) 15:23, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not make POV edits on this article, which give false information. Sweet6970 (talk) 13:38, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You yourself have a history of POV pushing on trans-related articles. At the very least, I would request that you bring this to the article's talk page for discussion, and make less misleading edit summaries in future. GenevieveDEon (talk) 13:41, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do not have such a history. My edit summary is correct – your version is factually wrong. Sweet6970 (talk) 13:43, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, a topic designated as

contentious
. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the

Ctopics/aware
}} template.
