Hello! I just wanted to request that you archive your user talk page. While it may not be bothersome to you, many editors have slow connections, and having a very large talk page can hamper communication. If you need help, just check out the guide over at Help:Archiving a talk page. Thanks! Jay(talk) 09:12, 14 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello,
welcome
to Wikipedia. Here are some useful links in case you haven't already found them:
, I am asking for your opinion on my expansion/improvement of these three articles. Before I start the climb towards a possible FA nomination, I was hoping you could have a look at the articles' current conditions and make a few observations (either here, on my talk page, or on the relevant article's talk page).
For transperancy, this expansion was prompted by a desire to get the articles looking solid before they appeared in "On This Day" (the entry for the battle was scrubbed a couple of days ago in favour of another WWII event). The article for Kormoran is not yet complete: content relating to the post-war searches and rediscovery needs to be expanded and cited, and will be updated in the next few days. -- saberwyn 01:58, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Association football consensus
A user
Expansion of the A-League. He claims in some that once it is referred to what type of football it is, you can simply call it football later on. While I feel that is ok for soccer articles, the ones he edited in question also use the other football codes (rugby league, aussie rules, etc) and calling soccer, football is just confusing. What is your thoughts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.3.243 (talk) 04:54, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply

I think - I'm not sure I ever got around to doing what I meant with that list - the idea was they should all at least have redirects from No. ### RAF, as well as being at the formal title of No. ### R(C/A/NZ)AF. I suppose I should get around to cleaning up the disambig pages and redirects and so on...
Grant, I've been improving articles on Australian WWII pilots lately and was going to have a go at getting Len Waters to B or perhaps GA -- already collected references but since you created the article I thought I'd ask as a courtesy if you had plans for it before I went any further... Actually I think it probably had different meaning depending on context. Back "home", if you referred to the Swan River Colony, you meant Western Australia. But over here, "Swan River Colony" was a way of referring specifically to the colony on the Swan River, as opposed to the daughter colonies at King George Sound, on the Vasse, on the Blackwood, at Champion Bay, etc. Also, we need to bear in mind that the initial annexation was much less than the western third. I think the annexation wasn't expanded until control of King George Sound was transferred.
Long time no speak! I also have noticed that at one stage there was a link for Allouarn at the islands off cape leeuwin article - then it went - not sure what happened

Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties.
One suggestion
on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.
One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those
selected
in the process.
What this invitation is:
You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.
What this invitation is not:
This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.
This is not a vote on compromises either.
It would be highly appreciated if you came over to the
MOS:JP talk page and helped find a solution. Thank you in advance. Prime Blue (talk) 11:30, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply

I put an explanation for my changes on the discussion page for this one. My point was that word for word translations are not necessarily any more "accurate" than sensible ones that take cognisance of ordinary English word order. Turning the lead for this (very poor) article into a largely irrelevant quibble over English as opposed to German word order seems to be a great shame. (Repeating this on the discussion page if you want to answer it there - otherwise I will revert again after a day or two. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 03:08, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Premier League sponsors
I notice this edit has now been reverted by User:MickMacNee and I can't say I disagree with it. I think all of the alphabet soup that you used as justification do not back up your edit. I hardly think that simply listing the sponsors in an objective and neutral tone is what SOAP/ARTSPAM/RECENT had in mind, it is not an advertisement, puff piece or PR coup, it is a simple referenced list. I can't see the justification for it being "recentist": it listed in plain terms every sponsor in the Premier League's history. For me it is common sense to have them listed and not the other way around. If you still feel strongly about it then perhaps you could further explain your reasoning on the talkpage? The media file you uploaded as File:Operationcartwheel.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source),

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media

MSU Interview
Dear Grant65,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at [email protected] (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Back in November, you got either an AfD or PROD notification, which was part of the
here and leave us some feedback about what you think about the new versions of the templates we tested (there are links to the templates), that would be very useful. (You can also email me at mpinchukwikimedia.org if you want.) Thanks! Maryana (WMF) (talk) 18:44, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply

Claude Choules
Hello Grant65. I'm concerned by this edit to Claude Choules by the 124 IP [[1]] which wholesale replaces citations from the 2009 edition of his autobiography to the 2010 edition (but uses the same page numbers). If the 2010 edition is indeed different to the 2009 edition (as he/she has asserted on my talk page) what guarantee is there that these new citations are correct? You seem knowledgeable on the subject given your previous edits to the article - just wondering if you have these books? If so would it be possible to check the citations changed by this edit to confirm they are correct? I don't own either so I can't but I'm dubious. Thanks in advance. Problem with your signature, and how to fix it
Hi, I just wanted to inform you that your signature may not work properly in templates, and may actually break them.
Notice that nothing displays after the start of your signature. To fix your signature in your Preferences, please replace the "|" between your user link and your talk link with "|" (including the semicolon). Thank you for attempting to do it the correct way, but you should only replace a "|" with "|" if it's one that you want displayed, and not those which are used to
pipe. If you want your signature to appear exactly as it did before, you'd use:
Of course, if you just want it without the visible "|" as you did in the first part of the edit which I just linked to, that's certainly fine too. MANdARAX•XAЯAbИAM 07:34, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply

I was looking into a reference error on this article, and as far as I can tell, it is one you introduced. It seems to be in this edit [2]. As far as I can tell, you added a lot of material, but one sentence you added included a ref tag with the name "uboatnet", but didn't provide the actual content of that reference. I also did not notice a similar reference name...
The sentence reads: Two Brazilian aircraft, a

Battle of Long Tan
The page needs some balance. You kept an eye on this page some years ago. I hope you can keep on eye on it again for a short while I try to include Vietnamese sources. I am in the process of preparing a letter to send to the Vietnamese authorities so that I can get hold of the full names and photos of the Vietnamese killed in the battle. This shouldn't be too hard a task for the Vietnamese combatants killed are largely buried at the Truong Son Martyrs' Cemetery with name and photograph included as well as details of their unit and date of death. My main concern is that the number of Vietnamese attackers the Australians claim were involved seems to be getting bigger and bigger, from a reinforced enemy battalion (see US Presidential Citation of the time) to 1,500 (1970s claim) to 2,500 (1980s claim) and recently a whopping 3,500 (it is starting to appear in some Australian publications glorifying the diggers).--94.46.3.195 (talk) 04:55, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just as I feared, my edits have been removed and I'm really disappointed because I provided sources, including the 6th Battalion War Diary available online. Can you please help?--94.46.3.195 (talk) 06:47, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The article is fully cited (more than 300 fns). How is the 6 RAR War Diary any more reliable than what is used currently (essentially its a primary source anyway)? The figure of 188 is already included anyway. The text of the PUC is hardly evidence of anything (other than the fact 6 RAR was awarded one). Incidentally the 3,500 figure you mention above is not included in the article so not sure why you raise that as an issue. The 1,500 to 2,500 range is what is in the literature available (fully cited in the article). Viet Cong claims of only suffering 30 casualties are also included (even if barely credible) so I fail to see how you can claim that this isn't balanced. All key claims from both sides that I have found in reliable sources are included (hence why it is 187,000 kb). I would ask you to read the entire article rather than selected parts of it before you make such claims. Nearly everything you added is already discussed in the article (without the block quotes you seem to think are necessary though). Anotherclown (talk) 08:19, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Grant, I notice that you have moved "51st Battalion, Far North Queensland Regiment" to "51st Battalion (Australia)". I have several concerns about this that I wish to discuss. Firstly, my understanding is that the unit's current name is "51st Battalion, Far North Queensland Regiment". In the past our naming conventions have usually been to move articles to their current name, hence:
Talk: 51st Battalion (Australia) and Talk:51st Battalion, Far North Queensland Regiment. Should these be merged etc as well? Additionally, can you please update the article's assessment, as it now appears to have been demoted from B class to stub. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) 07:40, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply

Ditto. While I realise that you've worked hard on this I cannot understand why the articles are now titled No. 4xx Squadron RNZAF, which is even more erroneous than their original tiles. There's no reason why the titles couldn't have been changed to No. 4xx (NZ) Squadron RAF or 4xx (New Zealand) Squadron RAF in line with what has been written in the note, which you have now removed " 485 Squadron was referred to informally as 485 (New Zealand) or 485 (NZ) and never as 485 Squadron, RNZAF''? ALL of the RNZAF Squadrons, which operated exclusively in the Pacific theatre during WW 2 had nothing to do with the Article XV units. This is why "A note on New Zealand Squadrons in the RAF" was added to the articles in the first place. ◆Min✪rhist✪rian◆MTalk 22:23, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Articles concerning Bulgars
Hi,
My name is Paul, I saw that you have contributed and have interest in topics related to the Bulgars. I am from Bulgaria and I tried to make some contributions to some of these articles, unfortunately such information is not welcomed on Wikipedia, it involves the origin of the western Huns and I observed that much prejudiced is on these articles, and it is not easy to correct it. That's why I created my own website and wrote the article there myself. Could you please take a look at the article there, it is written in a manner similar to WP, and give me back your opinion - is it possible this information to be presented on WP, what is your opinion? The usual accusation here is that it is an original research and so on, which I find stupid. The link is http://dulo.myfreesites.net/

Hi, Thanks for the advice on the map. I've uploaded a new version and since then removed the "disputed" banner (can set it up again if needed).
I agree the labels are highly inconsistent, so all of them are changed into ethno-linguistics terms (peoples or language groups), because genetics is all about peoples and not geographical locations. If I use geographical terms there will be labels like "SW Africa", "NE Africa" everywhere and it's not particularly useful.
It's hard to think of easy terms for J2 and J1, finally I settled down with "N/S Middle Eastern". Alternatively they could be J2 = "Turkish/Iranian" and J1 = "Semitic".
"Harappan" (or Indus Valley Civilization) is changed to "Elamo-Dravidian" as it should be about the ancient people.
Although the term "S/N Siberian Turkic" really exists (Siberian Turkic languages), it's changed to "Turkic (S/N Siberia)".
"W Sunda" and "E Sunda" are retained to indicate the split between O3 and O2a on the ancient continent (Sundaland) and C2 on the islands beyond the Wallace Line (Wallacea & New Guinea). Chakazul (talk) 10:44, 17 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. Well it's difficult to gauge your intentions when you have a terse edit summary. The changing of the lead image is fine. Not a problem there. At the time it just looked like you were getting rid of the map for no valid reason. The map is obviously useful for demonstrating the movements of the Da Yuezhi from the 177-176 BC onwards (when they pushed the Saka further into Central Asia as a result of themselves being pushed and harassed by the Xiongnu). However that head pic is a fine replacement so long as the map remains in the article. I'm still not sure why you changed and removed some of the material that belonged behind citations, though, regarding Scythians and other topics. Could you explain that? Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Grant65. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
"extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion
with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016,
a request for comment
established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you. This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that
TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Grant65.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

Douglas Wilson (RAAF officer)
Hi Grant. Regarding the mass revision of my edits to
Thanks, first of all, for helping out and I'm obviously aware of your track record over the years at WP.
You're right that I don't own it. In fact, I have a track record of objecting to editors (or worse still cliques) old or new, doing that. By the same token, some things are matters of interpretation and/or non-binding guidelines, rather than hard and fast rules. And, in regard to those MOS, I'm not sure what specific aspects of the manuals you're referring to?
I did think that the net effect of my edits (plural) on yours were fairly minimal. (I'm on a smartphone right now, so it's difficult to consult/cite/link the edit history.) I considered other reversions, but decided against them. For instance, in general I don't really like "____ officer" type disambiguators in titles, rather than say "aviator", i.e. something broad and dynamic (rather than dry and jargonistic). Although I left it in this case, because if anyone was a career RAAF officer it was this (nevertheless quite curious/somewhat enigmatic) bloke) and he didn't have a career in civil aviation, or anything else, that I can make out from the limited sources/time available to me at present.
When creating disambiguation pages, fix all resulting mis-directed links.
Before moving an article to a qualified name (in order to create a disambiguation page at the base name, to move an existing disambiguation page to that name, or to redirect that name to a disambiguation page), click on What links here to find all of the incoming links. Repair all of those incoming links to use the new article name.
It would be a great help if you would check the other Wikipedia articles that contain links to "Western Allies" and fix them to take readers to the correct article. Thanks. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 10:12, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I just consulted "What Links Here" it shows that no actual articles link to the page (as opposed to redirect, talk, project etc pages etc). Grant | Talk 03:59, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'm involved in a small disagreement with Keith-264 who has twice reverted one of my edits, so I have been reading through his Talk page to get some idea of the person I am dealing with. I noticed the topic which you created, headed "Friendly advice", and at the end of your exchanges I found his reference to the matter which I have put in the headline. I suspected I could guess what it would say and confirmed it when I looked it up. Perhaps you have now followed this up, but, if not, I thought you might be interested to visit the website which contains details of the case, at <http://www.lettersofnote.com/2013/08/arkell-v-pressdram.html>. Best wishes. Blurryman (talk) 00:23, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks – there's more background on it here – including the fact that there was, technically, no such case.
While I'm not religious, in such situations I try to bear in mind the words attributed to Solomon in Proverbs 26:5 – "Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he think himself wise in his own conceit." But in so doing I sometimes forget the preceding line: "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him."
Hi Grant65! Regarding your article move [6], I am afraid nobody uses the expression "Alchon Hunas" (zero hits on Google Books [7], and only 1 hit on Google in general [8] aside from your contributions). It's probably OK to say that the Indians called them (and some others) "Hunas", but "Alchon Huns" is the generally accepted term for them [9]. Would you mind reverting your article move? Thank you पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 08:35, 17 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Not yet
Hi Grant65! Regarding your article name move from "Alchon Hunas" to "Alchon" [10] this time... Contrary to your claim that "suffixes like Hunas/Huns are redundant" [11], almost nobody in the literature uses the expression "The Alchons" alone, without the suffix "Huns" (and the suffixe "Hunas" is simply never used as seen above) : there are only two cases of "The Alchons" being used alone on Google Book [12], and "The Alchon" in the singular is only used as an adjective as in "The Alchon coinage", except for two cases were it is used as a noum [13]. Again "Alchon Huns" is almost the only way these people are described in the literature: (115 instances on Google Books [14]). Sorry for the trouble, but would you mind reverting the article to its original name "Alchon Huns" please? Thank you पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 04:57, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Grant65. I understand your concern, and your wish for clarification, but as explained above, describing these people as simply "Alchons" is almost unheard of (only 1 or 2 cases in the literature). As far as I know, at Wikipedia, we are not supposed to invent new terminology or adopt extremely marginal terminologies in neglect of mainstream ones, and "Alchon Huns" is very clearly the mainstream terminology [15]. At most, we could mention in the article that a few authors have only been referring to them as simply "The Alchons", but it does not justify that the article itself be named according to this very rare usage. "Alchon Huns" is clearly the way to go. पाटलिपुत्र (talk) 06:34, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting
As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. User group for Military Historians
Greetings,
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

G'day all, please be advised that throughout April 2018 the Military history Wikiproject is running its annual backlog elimination drive. This will focus on several key areas:
tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
adding or improving listed resources on Milhist's task force pages
updating the open tasks template on Milhist's task force pages
creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the scope of military history will be considered eligible. This year, the Military history project would like to extend a specific welcome to members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red, and we would like to encourage all participants to consider working on helping to improve our coverage of women in the military. This is not the sole focus of the edit-a-thon, though, and there are aspects that hopefully will appeal to pretty much everyone.
The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 April and runs until 23:59 UTC on 30 April 2018. Those interested in participating can sign up here.
Hi, Grant65. I'm an arbitration clerk, which means I help manage and administer the arbitration process (on behalf of the committee). Thank you for making a statement in an arbitration request at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case. However, we ask all participants and commentators to limit the size of their initial statements to 500 words. Your statement significantly exceeds this limit. Please reduce the length of your statement when you are next online. If the case is accepted, you will have the opportunity to present more evidence; in any event, concise, factual statements are much more likely to be understood and to influence the decisions of the arbitrators.
Requests for extensions of the word limit may be made either in your statement or by email to the Committee through this link or arbcom-llists.wikimedia.org if email is not available through your account.

As a member of the "WikiProject Australian rules football" it would be good to hear your opinion on a current debate occurring on the 2018 AFL season talk page.
The debate centres around whether or not a third column should be included in the club attendance table to display "home state games vs. interstate opposition".
The main justification is that Victorian clubs play on average 7 home derbies each year compared to non-victorian clubs who play only 1 home derby each year. This provides an average home figure for Victorian clubs which is inflated as their home games have the fans of other Victorian clubs attending.
Please provide whether you support or oppose this proposal for AFL Club attendance tables.

Thank you for earlier joining the Organized Labour project. I've been a participant in the project since 2006 and am helping with a revival of it. As part this we are introducing a new membership system, which will help with communications among participants. This involves creating a membership file for each participant within your user space (you can see an example of my membership card here: User:Goldsztajn/WikiProjectCards/WikiProject Organized Labour). This system is already in operation within a number of wikiprojects (such as Women in Red and Medicine). You will not have to do anything, myself or someone else from the project will create the relevant file within your userspace. However, I am conscious that it is not polite to change an editor's userspace without notice. If I don't hear from you in the negative, I will go ahead with making the change after the 18th of January. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Many thanks for supporting the project, in solidarity,--Goldsztajn (talk) 11:24, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Grant65! I've nominated you (along with all other active admins) to receive a solstice season gift from the WMF. Talk page stalkers are invited to comment at the nomination. Enjoy! Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}}talk ~~~~~
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Correction to previous election announcement
Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I (Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:41, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Grant, I mistakenly reverted your edit to the Shenyang J-6 today, as I misread the diff. However, on your revert here, it looks like you accidentally triplicated the article, so it now appears thrice on the page. Could you look at it and fix it? I'm hesitant to try myself. Thanks.
