World Straight Pool Championship

Hi. The World Straight Pool Championship is a cue sport event where the winner would earn the world title in straight pool. As of now, there is a dispute regarding certain editions of the event. Because you're a member of the cue sports project, would you like to share your thoughts on this discussion? 104.172.112.209 (talk) 15:59, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I know too little of the topic at hand to make an informed opinion. Howard the Duck (talk) 20:49, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Map of PMs

Hallo, could you please update the map of PMs to include Burma? Thank you. Gryffindor (talk) 21:40, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a PNG, you can easily do it via MSPaint. Howard the Duck (talk) 01:19, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

UST Golden Tigresses page

Hello. I undid an edit by another editor and cited my reason, but they immediately reverted it to their original edit. I don't want to go into an edit war, it's just that the changes they made seem unconstructive NRT^530 (talk) 09:57, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, they were gunning for consistency; check out UST Growling Tigers basketball. Howard the Duck (talk) 10:38, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But what they did was the opposite of consistency. The discussion on the name changes was to remove the words men's and women's from the article title. The recent edit on the volleyball article brought that back. Well, anyway, I guess there's nothing seriously wrong with it. Thanks for replying. NRT^530 (talk) 13:02, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to the prose. The men's basketball team referred to a "men's team"; the word "men's" is outside the actual title anyway. Howard the Duck (talk) 16:00, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Howard the Duck, it's been over ten days since you said you'd be reviewing this DYK nomination. Do you intend to start soon, or are you busy with other things? If not, I'd like to add it to my list of "Older nominations needing DYK reviews". Thank you for letting me know your plans. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:37, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Please remove my notice there. I'd get a new QPQ review later this week. Thanks. Howard the Duck (talk) 00:54, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Intramuros

Hi, HTD. I'm thinking of adding the Lyceum Pirates basketball in the Battle of Intramuros rivalry page when I get some free time. I'll include the Lyceum-Letran and the Lyceum-Mapúa game results from Season 87 to 99. Once done, can I add the battle of intramuros link between LPU-MU and LPU-CSJL results in the NCAA basketball results table?   Linsanity   12:23, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

NCAA Season 93 basketball tournaments

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I was looking at repairing the 20 or so redundant parameters in this article, but maybe it's better if you looked at it again instead due to my lack of experience in that area. Cheers, Dawnseeker2000 21:40, 29 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You can just go ahead and do it. With redundant parameters, I don't know what I should be looking for. Howard the Duck (talk) 04:09, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All good, OpalYosutebito took care of it. If you're interested, there is a tool that can show which parameters are duplicates (User:Frietjes/findargdups). Dawnseeker2000 16:23, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thanks! Howard the Duck (talk) 18:52, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

PSE and other categories

Excellent work on creating the cat for the PSE index, thankyou. While we're on the subject, there are a couple of other major indices without a category, namely DAX, Nikkei 225, S&P/ASX 200, NIFTY 50, OMX Stockholm 30, KOSPI. Any chance you could create those too? 92.71.60.61 (talk) 08:32, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I can but, for example, Nikkei 225 supposedly has 225 components and that would be a chore. I'd also prefer Wikipedians who are knowledgeable on how to get the components for those indices. I only did it for PSEi as it only had 30 components and I already knew how to get the data for its components. Howard the Duck (talk) 10:04, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. Nikkei is certainly one of the larger ones, but most of those above are around 30 constituents, with the article page explicitly listing all of them. I'm sure it wouldn't take me more than a day or two to populate, less if others were to help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.71.60.61 (talk) 09:08, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There's also rationalization on what links to include, as some companies may split their listings into multiple subsidiaries, and only those knowledgeable knows which links to add, and how to name them on the navbox. For example, in the PSE example, there are multiple companies related to Ayala Corporation. If you are a non-Filipino, you'd probably lump Ayala Land and ACEN Corporation as one link to Ayala Corporation. Howard the Duck (talk) 10:31, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's a case of "Build it and they will come", ie once the cat is created, there will be someone who knows (I can add a lot of them, and people will be tempted if they see a missing company). Also, luckily a lot of that work has already been done.

There's a also the case of maintaining these. PSEi is changed twice a year and almost all time nobody changes it in time making it inaccurate. Howard the Duck (talk) 10:09, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like it's only a handful of changes each time though. And besides, I think countries with very large populations like India and Japan have more editors, and therefore more chance of people updating it. 92.71.60.61 (talk) 08:34, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can probably vouch for India and Indians, but for Japan not too many speak English. I suppose the Nikkei 225 navbox is being updated regularly (but I'm not sure if it's in time). Howard the Duck (talk) 09:58, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please see Talk:FTSE 100 Index#Creation of new category where a parallel discussion is ongoing. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 11:18, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's a 30-second job to create a category, right? I could have populated all of those categories in a couple of hours. Here we are a week later with no progress. The frustration is real. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.71.60.61 (talk) 14:09, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please can you take a look at Template talk:Nikkei 225 ? Basically, it automatically adds every company to the category, gets around the whole issue of updates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.71.60.61 (talk) 09:01, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Phillipines congressional district maps

Hello! I am looking for shape files of the congressional districts in Philippines from 2001 to 2010. I saw that you created a map for an article on wikipedia and I wonder if you have those polygon files that could share or if you could advice me on how to produce my own maps. Thank you. 155.245.155.209 (talk) 12:22, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I can only do PNGs. Those 2013 and beyond are in SVGs though. Howard the Duck (talk) 17:36, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
