You are invited to the National Archives ExtravaSCANza, taking place every day next week from January 4–7, Wednesday to Saturday, in College Park, Maryland (Washington, DC metro area). Come help me cap off my stint as Wikipedian in Residence at the National Archives with one last success!

This will be a casual working event in which Wikipedians are getting together to scan interesting documents at the National Archives related to a different theme each day—currently: spaceflight, women's suffrage, Chile, and battleships—for use on Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons. The event is being held on multiple days, and in the evenings and weekend, so that as many locals and out-of-towners from nearby regions1 as possible can come. Please join us! Fexlom

Hi Lazulilasher. Thank you for taking swift action in regard to vandalizing user Fexlom. Since that user is still editing his talk page (declaring himself as senior and master IV editor) I assume the block excluded his talk page. I had restored his older talk page history in order to show his disruptive edit history in full, but he is now blanking the page. Well, it's his talk page so he may do so, if he wants to. I doubt, however, that the 12 hour block will help much to change his behaviour. Thanks and greetings. --Matthiaspaul (talk) 15:41, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Matthiaspaul. Yeah, I'm a softie for the time limits. I ran across him swapping the elemental symbols for Gold and Silver. I detest this sort of vandalism, as it can be difficult to track down. Anyway, I always start with short blocks. If the editor returns and continues vandalism then longer blocks may be necessary. About the talk page, well, I don't mind so much if he edits his talk page, unless the edits become profane or offensive (vandalism.) Thanks for letting my know, and do update if he continues to be a problem. Lazulilasher (talk) 16:34, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It worked better than expected, but not long enough. User Fexlom is at it again... --Matthiaspaul (talk) 09:37, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Given their edit patterns it seems Fexlom and
Just cause 2 article. --Matthiaspaul (talk) 11:18, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply

Hey there, Ruhrfisch! I stop in from time to time. I try to find more time to edit, but it's difficult with real life. Anyway, thank you much for noticing my activity. Best wishes for the coming year. Lazulilasher (talk) 21:45, 1 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Main page appearance: Ernest Shackleton

This is a note to let the main editors of Ernest Shackleton know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on March 17, 2012. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/March 17, 2012. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask featured article director Raul654 (talk · contribs) or his delegate Dabomb87 (talk · contribs), or start a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/requests. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Shackleton as a young man

pack ice and was slowly crushed before the shore parties could be landed. There followed a sequence of exploits, and an ultimate escape with no lives lost, that would eventually assure Shackleton's heroic status. (more...

Ernest Shackleton scheduled for TFA

This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as

today's featured article for 15 February 2024. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/February 15, 2024, or to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/February 2024. Please keep an eye on that page, as comments regarding the draft blurb may be left there by user:dying, who assists the coordinators by making suggestions on the blurbs, or by others. I also suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from two days before it appears on the Main Page. Thanks and congratulations on your work!
