I saw this edit - you probably don't know this, but one of the three ships mentioned (USS Hornet (CV-8)) wasn't even in service, and another (USS Enterprise (CV-6)) was in the Pacific at the time. Subtle vandalism can be hard to detect, especially when it's hoax-y material like this, so rather than reinstating it, it's probably better to bring it up on the article's talk page. Thanks. Hi, please be more careful when reverting vandal edits. On List of Java virtual machines, the vandal made two separate edits, but you only reverted the first one. Hello, you were worried that I am associated with the band Carabao or Aed Carabao. I am not associated with either and have never met either. I lived in Thailand 30 years ago for two years, during which I went to two concerts and did not even see them backstage. For about the last 5 years, I a have been following the band via the Internet. And I have translated 60 of their songs into English, again without any involvement or even acknowledgement of the band. I am on a fan facebook page which allows me to listen to interviews with band members and know about concerts and new albums and other events. It also gives me access to other fans, including Pierre Theze, who took that last picture recently and gave it to me for Wikipedia. I can speak and read the language and am well placed to write/translate Wikipedia pages on this important subject. As you can see from the Carabao Wikipedia page, the band is a big deal in Thailand and other countries and have almost unknown to English speakers because of the huge language barrier. For instance, Aed Carabao does not speak English well at all and all of the interviews he gives are in Thai. There are Thai Wikipedia pages for almost all their 28 studio albums and over time, I plan to translate those into English as well. This article is noy a hoax. I was very easily able to source it, using just google, and just English language sources. "Hoax" is a serious charge, and an unreferenced article should not be assumed to be either a hoax -- or original research -- until you have tried to source it and failed. In my early days here, I once or twice labeled as hoaxes things I simply did not understand, and got very embarrassed when those who knew the field showed they were quite well known. 1. Why not simply include the link to the page about the alumni rather than listing all of the alumni on the school's wiki page? This would help maintain clarity on the page. 2. Hi. All of the films of Armando Bo are pretty notable, smutty, yes, but I'm surprised you would confuse lack of content with lack of notability. Most of the Argentine films are badly in need of expansion which I aim to do gradually by director but prodding them for deletion isn't the way to go about it. Your recent edit to this article, adding the peacock-term template is inappropriate, and I have reverted it. The Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch states, among other things, "Words such as these are often used without attribution to promote the subject of an article, while neither imparting nor plainly summarizing verifiable information' (after listing some examples). It also states The advice in this guideline is not limited to the examples provided and should not be applied rigidly.

This article is a list; one of perhaps 600 such by-year in science list-articles, many of which have the exact same head sentence. The phrase "year x in science and technology involved some significant events" is verifiably true for many years, certainly for 1940. The events listed are supported by cites and by having Wikipedia articles that, if nothing else, pass the notability test.

Please try not to place drive-by tags. Please spend more time in examining articles for problems; make sure that there actually is' a problem, and that your actions will improve the article. I have noticed that you often edit without an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This is considered an important guideline in Wikipedia. Even a short summary is better than no summary. An edit summary is even more important if you delete any text; otherwise, people may think you're being sneaky. Also, mentioning one change but not another one can be misleading to someone who finds the other one more important; add "and misc." to cover the other change(s).
