Hello JadeSpire,

Thanks for adding what I'm sure an image of E. cassythoides. The previous image that I added is not. The problem is that the image you've added is not allowed in Commons because it does not have the correct license. (I know, because I've been caught too.) It's those two letters "NC" that are the problem. There's more information here. My best to you - please keep searching for useable/allowable images, especially of orchids. Gderrin (talk) 06:12, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Gderrin: thanks for educating me! I'll definitely continue to search for pictures. :)

Vrydagzynea grayi

Hello JadeSpire,

Thanks for letting me know about the name change. I could do the fix, but since you found it, why shouldn't you do the honours? It's pretty straightforward. Just go to the

Vrydagzynea grayi article, click on "More" which then changes to "Move", change Vrydagzynea grayi to Vrydagzynea elongata and give a reason. (Do not uncheck any boxes.) And let me know here if you have any difficulty. Gderrin (talk) 00:01, 31 October 2020 (UTC) P.S. I'll look after the Vrydagzynea species list. Gderrin (talk) 00:15, 31 October 2020 (UTC)[reply

@Gderrin: I have been going through some of the other pages you have created/contributed to significantly and seeing if I can persuade any iNaturalist users to relicense their photos. So far, besides the E. cassythoides, I've also managed to upload a picture of Didymoplexis pallens. :)

Hello JadeSpire, and thank you for efforts to update taxonomy of orchid species. You pinged me at

Ficus (plant)) exist), "genus"+"species" parameter are required and "taxon" parameter won't work. For this reason, I prefer genus+species parameters. However, I don't edit solely to replace taxon with genus+species; there are some other parameter issues I regularly check for, and I may replace taxon with genus+species in the course of correcting other issues. I'm not sure at this point which issue brought Psychopsiella to my attention. If you prefer to use the "taxon" parameter, I'm not going to override that all the time, but do be aware that "genus"+"species" parameters are sometimes functional when "taxon" is not. Copying licensed material requires attribution

Hi. I see in a recent addition to Calyptrochilum you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 17:14, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Diannaa: Thank you very much for the guidance! I have condensed/summarized/rewrote the content on the Calyptrochilum and on planning on moving the previous content, which I have rewritten to be more readable (and better linked), to the page of the actual species. I plan on quoting one sentence from the paper still. Should I place quotes around that sentence and keep the CC note in the reference list, or should I be doing something else? Thanks again! Nicholaswei (talk) 04:20, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You can copy the content if you like as long as you keep the CC notice. I suggest if it is only mostly re-written that you keep the CC notice. If you keep the CC notice you don't need to use the quotation marks but you could use them if you like.— Diannaa (talk) 13:03, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Liz: Sorry, I re-created the page because I thought Vargasiella was part of the Vargasiellinae, but I realized that it is now part of the Zygopetalinae. I'm not sure how to re-nominate it for speedy deletion. Best, Nicholaswei (talk) 20:07, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Nicholaswei,

Thanks for your work on Bulbophyllum. If you plan to do any more (on that article), can I ask you to hold off for little while until I update the synonyms list? (There's a lot of them, and it appears the list may not have been done correctly in the first place.) Gderrin (talk) 06:57, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gderrin: sure, no problem. Thanks for helping fix what I wrote! Nicholaswei (talk) 07:00, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks mate! Got your message. Happy to do the list. (Had plenty of practice.)Gderrin (talk) 07:04, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Nicholas - I noticed your interest in writing Corybas articles. (Are you crazy?) There are about sixty species in New Guinea (and hundreds of other genera as well). The website Orchids of New Guinea is a "dot.com" but is authored by distinguished orchid botanists and the Corybas list for New Guinea is here. Not many amateur orchid enthusiasts, especially those who are also Wikipedia editors, live in PNG, so finding images will be difficult. You'll have to pack your camera and take them yourself. Gderrin (talk) 23:15, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Gderrin: haha, thanks for the references! I'll be sure to check them out. I think I'm going to first finish up any NZ Corybas that have yet to have articles written, and then I might expand elsewhere. I have a couple other things that I'm hoping to write, so I might do those first once I finish with the NZ Corybas. I guess I might have to live without images for every article for a while... :) Nicholaswei (talk) 00:50, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Gderrin: I'm also going through some orchid genera in a random, non-systematic manner to fix up their taxonomy; several articles seem to have been written by orchid growers and need a bit of updating on the naming/citations. Nicholaswei (talk) 01:33, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
