Hello User:Proscribe. I work with Black Girls Rock!, and therefore have a conflict of interest (COI) relationship. The organization is now much more than an awards show, so this article is quite out of date. Date format.

Hello Proscribe, thank you for the nice cleanups you have done — cleaning my mess, thank you. But I have a question concerning date formats. Is there a rule that says it MUST be dmy? I usually mdy as it is usually more easier for me to cite. So, please, correct me if I’ve erred. Reading BeansTalk to the Beans 19:25, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Reading Beans

according to

WP:MILFORMAT, "Articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking country should generally use the date format most commonly used in that nation. For the United States this is (for example) July 4, 1976; for most other English-speaking countries it is 4 July 1976." Hope that helps! Proscribe (talk) 19:42, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply

Douglas Leone requests

Hi there, Proscribe. I noticed that you made an edit to the Douglas Leone article, namely updating his title to general partner. I'm not sure if you saw that I'd posted a request for exactly this update, plus a few other changes, on the article Talk page? As such, I'm hoping you can take a look at my other suggestions there, as I'm also proposing revisions to the article Infobox (updating his wife's name), Career section (lightly restructuring and updating existing claims), and Personal life section (adding one additional claim).

I have a conflict of interest, as I work for Sequoia Capital, so I will not be making any of these edits myself and am instead counting on experienced editors like yourself to review what I've put together. Alas, I posted these requests nearly a month ago and haven't been able to attract any interest. That's why I was so thrilled to see your update and why I'm reaching out now for additional assistance. VS for Sequoia Capital (talk) 18:10, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have made the edits, plus refs, so should be OK. Proscribe (talk) 21:49, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for making these updates, Proscribe. As I noted before, it's been hard for me to find any editors interested in engaging with my requests, so I really appreciate you taking the time to help.
Did you have a chance to review my proposed Career section revisions? In my Talk page post, you'll see that I put together a draft that updates information about investments, improves sourcing for key claims, and lightly restructures content (with care taken to avoid any edits to passages concerning controversies). I think these revisions will really strengthen that section and make the article as a whole more accurate and readable.
Given my conflict of interest I will not be making these changes myself, so I'm hoping you can take a look at what I've put together. VS for Sequoia Capital (talk) 18:53, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, Proscribe, I just saw that another editor has reviewed and replied to me, so please ignore my last message. Thanks. VS for Sequoia Capital (talk) 20:03, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, VS for Sequoia Capital! Proscribe (talk) 20:20, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, Proscribe! Sorry to be back so soon, but I actually have a new request on the Douglas Leone Talk page that I'm hoping you can take a look at. I've also pinged the editor who reviewed my last request given there is a duplicated entry in the Career section as well. Any help you can provide would be truly appreciated. Anthurium: A Caribbean Studies Journal

Notice

The article

Anthurium: A Caribbean Studies Journal has been proposed for deletion
because of the following concern:

Non-notable journal. Not indexed in any selective databases, no in-depth independent sources. Does not meet

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Randykitty (talk) 09:24, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Randykitty, though I am no expert on journals, it did seem to me that Anthurium is notable enough to warrant an article, having in two decades of existence confirmed credibility. From objective observation (I have no personal connection with the journal), it clearly has standing within the field of Caribbean studies, and the article links to at least a couple of dozen others. What do you suggest is the way forward - can the proporsed deletion tag be removed? Thanks! Proscribe (talk) 13:15, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, thanks for pinging me. I've been working on the article, but unfortunately, I don't see the sourcing needed to meet
    WP:NJournals
either. Unfortunately, journals like this that cater to a small field often don't get much attention from other journals and while they may have a good standing in their field, they don't have the sources needed to meet our inclusion guidelines. Here's my opinion on the current sources: #1 is just a list entry; #2 is most likely a press release from the journal itself; #3 is not independent; #4 is a brief mention; #( is apparently not online, but as it is about libraries, I doubt it would cover the journal in-depth; and finally #6 is not independent either.
I realize that youo put a lot of work into this, but unfortunately I don't see it meeting the necessary notability requirements. You're of course free to remove the PROD, but then we'll have to slog it out at
AfD... --Randykitty (talk) 13:43, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply

The Carters of Elm Street edit I'm curious about the edit in which you changed the section heading from "Carrie Carter Talent Search" to "Carrie Carter talent search". The cited article about the search says

The talent contest, which will be known as the "Carrie Carter Talent Search" . . . .

Since that was the title for the search, I assumed that

all four words should be capitalized in the section heading. Eddie Blick (talk) 00:16, 9 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, Teblick - you are right! (I made the change when making another correction and saw the lowercase used here.) Have reinstated the capitalization. Proscribe (talk)

Working together - new black biographies

Dear Proscribe,

I've noticed that you've helped me improve my articles on the biographies of anti-colonial activists who are Black British & Caribbean, such as Trevor Carter and Cleston Taylor. Seeing as you share my interest in black history, I was wondering if you would take a closer look at my greatest article, Billy Strachan, which is currently open for peer review (see the top of the talk page) and has been nominated for WP:GA status.

I hope to one day help this page achieve the rank of Featured Article, similar to that of Olive Morris. Would you consider contributing to the peer review of Billy Strachan to improve its quality?

Also if you would also like to view some of the other biographies of anti-imperialist Caribbean and Black British people, then browse my pages for Charlie Hutchison, Peter Blackman, Dorothy Kuya, and Henry Gunter.

The History Wizard of Cambridge (talk) 16:41, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I noticed that in a recent edit at "Paterson_Joseph" you placed a couple of non-breaking spaces ( ) inside piped links (e.g.[[Dead Ringers (series)|Dead Ringers]]). Does that actually do anything? I'd understood that a non-breaking space only affects the way text is displayed, and the part of a piped link to the left of the pipe isn't displayed. Have I misunderstood? Best wishes, Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 10:37, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oops, how weird! No idea how that happened but it wasn't intentional, so thanks for spotting it. Proscribe (talk) 12:43, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I spend a lot of time cleaning up links and hadn't noticed a syntax like that before. I didn't want to delete them in case they were serving some purpose I didn't understand. Best wishes, Jean-de-Nivelle (talk) 12:49, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Neveselbert. I noticed that you made one or more edits to an article, Martin Amis, concerning the updates of review statistics, box office numbers, sports statistics, or some other frequently updated data with a fixed web address, but you did not update the |access-date= parameter in the citation template. The |access-date= parameter is the full date when the content pointed to by the URL was last verified to be working and supporting the text being cited in the article. This means that the parameter needs to be updated whenever the content is updated. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
