DYK for Baer's pochard

On 28 August 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Baer's pochard, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Baer's pochard (example pictured), found in eastern Asia, has seen a population decline of more than 99 percent in past decades, and is no longer migratory in central and eastern China? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Baer's pochard. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Baer's pochard), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Copying licensed material requires attribution

Hi. I see in a recent addition to Androsace delphinensis you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 12:16, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I gave the attribution in the summary. I didn't know it's possible to append other contents inside a ref tag, following the {{
cite}} template. Thanks so much for your advice. ——🦝 The Interaccoonale Will be the raccoon race (talkcontribs) 12:59, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the

contentious
. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the

Ctopics/aware
}} template.

Recent edits

You recently made several edits to species articles, such as helmeted manakin. However, you didn't copyedit the articles to make them internally consistent, nor did you edit the appropriate genus-level articles or higher level articles, to have external consistency. Please complete this work. - UtherSRG (talk) 19:55, 24 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you have recreated this template because it was a placeholder for subpages that had no actual template code in them. I have updated it so that it works in a more sensible way, using a #switch statement instead of subpages. Once the pages using the subpage have been updated, the subpage will no longer be needed. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:18, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks. I'll update the pages. ——🦝 The Interaccoonale Will be the raccoon race (talkcontribs) 14:28, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
