Article for Wilma Scott Heide
This edit for the article for Wilma Scott Heide basically overwrote and replaced every word and every source that had existed in the article since it was created more than a dozen years ago. Was there anything in the earlier version that might have merited updating, rather than total replacement? Alansohn (talk) 02:14, 23 March 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Alansohn. I used the existing article as the base when I updated the article and I didn't remove any of the information that was originally in it, although some was reworded as it was expanded. I kept three out of the five sources that were in the article at the time I expanded it and I am happy to add the other two back if you think they would improve the article. I apologise if you feel there was something from the article that was wrongly removed but I didn't intend for it to be completely replaced. I think when I copied it over from my sandbox that it may have made it appear that it was an entirely new article but I did update the existing article rather than starting from scratch. If there is anything in particular that you are concerned about, I'm happy to discuss that here or on the article's talk page. Sammielh (talk) 19:24, 23 March 2022 (UTC)

You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, John Goldmark), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive reminder
The
- We've gone from 14 nominations 270+ days old and 65 nominations 180+ days old to 2 and 0 respectively. No more articles will reach 270+ status during the drive, and only three more will reach 180+ if unreviewed, so this is your last chance to get the higher age bonuses!
- We still have plenty of articles in the 90+ range, but the list is shrinking fast.
- Some articles need new reviewers, either because they're officially on second opinion or because the original reviews were deleted or invalidated. You can help prevent these articles from waiting longer!
- While there are starting to be clear favourites for the Content Review Medal of Merit, the field is still very open. A late entrant can still pull an upset to get the most reviews in the drive!
And remember: if you've done reviews, you should log them at the backlog drive page for points, so they can be tracked towards your awards at the end.
Thanks for signing up for the drive, and I hope to see you reviewing! Vaticidalprophet 02:01, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

The article Inez Robb you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Inez Robb for comments about the article, and Talk:Inez Robb/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Signups open for The Core Contest 2024
The Core Contest—Wikipedia's most exciting contest—returns again this year from April 15 to May 31. The goal: to improve vital or other core articles, with a focus on those in the worst state of disrepair. Editing can be done individually, but in the past groups have also successfully competed. There is £300 of prize money divided among editors who provide the "best additive encyclopedic value". Signups are open now. Cheers from the judges, Femke, Casliber, Aza24. – Aza24 (talk) 02:20, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

TCC 2023 Check in
Hi there Sammielh. It has come to our attention that most of the winners from last year's Core Contest didn't receive any money from WMUK? Is this your case as well?
There appears to have been some major communication errors, but WMUK is happy to uphold their funding promise. I was planning to send an email to the other winners this weekend with instructions on how to receive their award—I'm happy to send you this as well. Aza24 (talk) 19:44, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Aza24: Hi there, no I never received any money although I think it was largely my fault as I completely forgot to ever reply to their initial email. Sammielh (talk) 09:28, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
