Bullussa-rabi and related matters

Hello, I am a hobbyist interested in history of Mesopotamia, especially medicine and related deities (I wrote most or all of the articles on Gula, Ninisina, Ninkarrak, Nintinugga and some related minor figures on the wiki), I just wanted to let you know I am very glad to see an author whose work I previously relied on in order to try to bring wikipedia up to date since Assyriology-related articles often lag behind consensus by decades contributing here.

I also have a small question: I actually wanted to write an article about Bullussa-rabi before, but never got around to it; since you wrote one about the hymn I wanted to ask if you think there's a point in a separate article about the person behind it? HaniwaEnthusiast (talk) 08:58, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, first, thank you for devoting your time and effort to this topic! Wiki articles on Mesopotamia are, indeed, often outdated. I wish I had more time to change this. As for Bullussa-rabi, we currently know of (at least) three different compositions attributed to this author, even though those other than the Gula Hymn are only known by title. Moreover, the discovery of the possibility that Bullussa-rabi was a woman rather than a man got some echoes in the press (sometime in the Autumn of 2020), and since then, there is already a German wiki entry about Bullussa-rabi (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullussa-rabi). Should you need any of my papers on Bullussa-rabi, check my academia.edu (https://lmu-munich.academia.edu/ZsomborF%C3%B6ldi) or send me an e-mail ([email protected]). Best wishes Zsombor.foldi (talk) 11:45, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your input! I finished the article: Bulluṭsa-rabi. I abstained from more detailed discussion of the hymn's historical context and information like identification of individual copyists (like the colophon from BM 34655+45718 indicating it was prepared by a novice āšipu) so that it does not overlap too much with what instead would be better to cover in the article about the hymn itself. Hi Zsombor! Sorry for tagging this for deletion but it seems to be a copy of this page and doesn't provide any attribution. It looks like the website allows people to copy information (with attribution) but its under a license that isn't compatible with Wikipedia. I don't mean to discourage you from contributing. If you recreate the page with content written in your own words and based on your own research, that should be fine. Check out This FAQ for more info. Wikipedia and copyright

Control copyright icon Hello Zsombor.foldi! Your additions to

issues.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:24, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm sorry that your initial contributions here have been met with such a poor welcome. We particularly need and welcome more experts in relatively specialised fields such as yours, so I hope you will not be discouraged from making further contributions here. Our
Bullussa-rabi’s Hymn to Gula and several other pages you can do one of two things: either (1) write the facts in your own words (by far the easiest solution); or (2) arrange for the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München to release the text in such a way that it can be used by anyone, anywhere, for any purpose whatsoever, not excluding commercial re-use. There are instructions on how to go about that in the pre-written text I've left immediately above this. If you do take that route, and the university agrees and provides a suitable release, please let me know (here on this page will be fine), preferably including the "ticket number" of the email correspondence; I will then un-hide the texts I've removed and hidden in the history. If you have questions, please ask them here or at the WP:Teahouse (which is specifically for questions from new users). Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 13:41, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply
