History

Waynesfield was founded on July 1, 1848.[3]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.74 square miles (1.92 km2), all land.[4]

There were 309 households, of which 42.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.8% were married couples living together, 12.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 7.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 29.4% were non-families. 25.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 8.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.29.

The median age in the village was 33.5 years. 31.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 8.4% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 26.3% were from 25 to 44; 23.1% were from 45 to 64; and 10.7% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 47.9% male and 52.1% female.

The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.17.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 30.4% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 93.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.4 males.

Education

Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools District operates in one PK-12 building which consists of a high school, middle school and a elementary school. The school's athletic programs' mascot is the Tigers and competes in the NWCC (Northwest Central Conference).

Waynesfield has a public library, a branch of the Auglaize County Public Library.[8]

Sports and leisure

Prairie View Golf Club built in 1991 is a Public 18 Hole Golf Course with well groomed fairways and greens. The course rating is a 70.0 and a slope rating of 113.[citation needed]

Waynesfield Raceway Park (built in 1993) is a 40 acre motor sports facility which includes a 1/3 mile high-banked dirt oval race track. The facility also includes a 1/5 mile dirt oval race track for kart/quarter midget racing. It is located a mile south of town.[citation needed]
